      Love Dazed and Confused~

Just saw Men Who Stare At Goats.

It was very good, although it seemed like it was short. When I watched it, I was a little startled to look at the clock and realize I had been in the theater for almost two hours.
      Bollocks.

I saw a super-low budget indie flick last night called Primer. It was a really confusing, hard-boiled sci-fi movie about the mechanics of time travel, but I think that was the point. There is no condescension, and the characters spew out technical jargon most of the time. Still, it was relatively enjoyable, and it's one of those movies that you have to see at least twice and can have a good long conversation with someone about afterward.

was a good movie, but I didn't like how you couldn't understand what happened, until after you go online and look up the plot.

Ugh... I HATED Donnie Darko (and a Beautiful Mind too)... I can relate a little TOO much to movies with such themes and it makes me doubt my sanity too much

I slipped and watching A Haunting in Conneticut (sp GRRR) the other day. It was decent but a little too hokey even for a ghost movie.

I saw pandorum the other day on MegaVideo.

Awesome concept, fairly well done. Had some good dialouge in it too. Very cool movie.

      Saw The Fourth Kind.

I recommend it to people interested in alien abduction theories and stuff. As far as scariness though, definitely lacking.

I've been on a movie binge lately.
Off the top of my head, I watched "Hack" which was actually pretty good. It was very corny and cliche but I do recommend it. I give it 5/10 stars

Hmmm... Watched "Midnight Meat train" (sp) and it was strange but interesting. I disliked the ending and the gore was a bit overkill.
I'm not sure what to give it lol. On an intellectually/unique standpoint, I'd have to give it a 7. But the gore really was too much. Why can't movies leave anything for our imaginations anymore?

Just finished watching "The Woods" and it was downright awesome. The Celtic religion/Druidism theme (as opposed to "witchcraft" which is what the show seemed to want it to be about) was picked up very quickly into the show. I could have done with a bit less gore in that one too though. I give it a solid 9/10

The setting and tone of the movie was really the main attraction, and it was beautiful on that level. It was not so much about seeing what would happen next or learning about the characters, but really about seeing more of this darkly beautiful, retro post-apocalyptic fairytale world.

I also caught G.I. Joe: the Rise of Cobra recently, and it sucked hard. Too much soap-opera stuff for an action movie, too much action-hero absurdity for dramatic storytelling, and lots of clumsy flashbacks. It was trying too hard to be all things to all people, and with a lot of actually entertaining action movies in the last year or so, it was a stand-out failure.

I was actually surprised by G.I. Joe. I mean, it wasn't a 'good movie', by any sense of the term, but I've seen soooooo many "mindless action movies" that were just plain unwatchable, and I didn't think of this one as one of them, even though I had been expecting it to be, since the first trailer.

Yeah, it did have a bit of a soap opera feel to it, but I thought it gave it a little more character to it. It wasn't so gushy as, say, the Spider-Man series, but it made it a little more than a 1-dimensional "OMG EXPLOSIONS!" film...like Transformers 2.

[Edit: ALTHOUGH...I will say that the movie just kind of lost me, toward the end. All of the underwater fighting, and whatnot. It just seemed to jump from 'Arcade' movie, to 'Time-Attack mode' (if you get the my meaning), and everything just completely went to....meh...]

I guess it's a personal pet peeve of mine--Psych 101 flashback-sequences passed off as character development just make me throw up in my mouth a little. For me it just dragged down the pacing, taking more time to make the 'characters' even less realistic. Also, the whole Baroness storyline, which was pretty central, just pissed me off. It was your textbook waffling between helpless waif and gun-toting mama, with a big "I knew it wasn't you baby, your evil boyfriend was CONTROLLING YOUR MIND!" payoff.

Ok, I do agree with this. (I see the flashbacks as a quick-fix for character development in a movie that doesn't really need to make too much of CD, in the first place.) The baroness/Duke/mind-control/love-triangle thing was waaaaaay too predictable. I'd actually forgotten all about it, in my last post. But yeah, it was about the most contrived bit of the entire movie.

      Funny People

It's official: if Seth Rogen read Judd Apatow's shopping list, I would be laughing my ass off Those guys can do no wrong. Even Adam Sandler, who usually annoys me in movies, did a great job. It might have been more serious than most of Apatow's movies, but it was still funny as hell.

      Lucky Number Slevin.

One of those 'clever' thrillers. Loved the intelligent humor, tense plot, awesome directing, and the end...wow!

Just watched "Matrix Revolutions" for the third time.

I just love the fight scenes where the men climb aboard the mechanical soldiers and go to war! I get goosebumps every time!

I just saw 4th kind a couple nights ago.. It was interesting, but my girlfriend and I both agree it seemed to have a lot of elements of demonic presence. i dont know how to make that make any more sense without spoiling the movie

Silence of the Lambs - Believe it or not, I've never seen this movie before. Unfortunately, I had to leave in the middle of it, and came back just in time for the end. I guess that's a good thing, though, because it was on network TV, and edited. I'm going to check out the uncensored version, soon. That Hannibal Lecter really is as creepy as his reputation says he is.

2012 - Well...I was reeeaaaaally drunk, when we went to see it. So all I really remember is seeing a lot of cool shit breaking and exploding and crumbling and whatnot, and I think I passed out somewhere during the second half - because, next thing I knew, it was over. Lol.

Monty Python's The Life of Brian and Surrogates.

LoB is still has some great laughs, bookended by a killer Gilliam animated intro and a big musical number to finish

This was my second viewing of Surrogates, which is basically Bruce Willis vs. Bill Joy vs. The Internet in a three-way allegorical battle royale. The plot and characters are delivered in broad strokes, but theme and setting carry the film. In addition to being allegorically satisfying from a surrogates=internet persona standpoint, there are lots of great laughs and easter eggs deriving from the nuts-and-bolts of the premise.
