What is the Illuminati? I was looking at subliminal stuff and came across it? All I know is that it is a conspiracy, that is why I put this in ED.

Supposedly an "enlightened" secret society that is secretly planning to take over the world, computer-chip the entire population and bring Armageddon or something. I forgot how it goes. But dude, seriously, don't even bother researching it. There is so much misinformation/disinformation and fear concerning the Illuminati/New World Order conspiracy it's not even worth the time and you'll be going in circles.

I do believe there may be an Illuminati society, just like their are masons, the Scottish rite, and Skull and Bones but there is nothing evil being planned. I used to believe in conspiracies too, but the truth of the matter is, there is no conspiracy at all. There is no conspiratorial evil in the world, no satanic plot to which we fall prey, there is only human fear, and the bizarre ways that humans try to ward it off. Just live your life man. Life is sweet.

You should read Masks of the Illuminati by Robert Anton Wilson. It's fiction and isn't really much about the Illuminati, but it has James Joyce and Albert Einstein as detectives and is extremely funny. Wilson has some more factual books on conspiracy theories as well, I highly recommend them if you're interested in the subject.

It was a real secret society, that is a fact. History says the group is long gone however. Some people believe that the society didn't die out however, and is still around. That is where the conspiracy comes from. The big thing is that they are usually said to be connected to the New World Order. Which is an actual movement by some people to try to get all governments to merge into a single super government. An idea that is really tempting for people who wish to gain power(as well as socialists). The conspiracy is that it isn't just a political movement , but is all planned out ahead of time by the group who wishes to rule the world.

i believe the illuminati to be a real thing. who controls the group or who the group consists of exactly, i am not sure. it is such a big thing that trying to figure out how it works can, in my opinion, drive you crazy. and that is no accident. i used to think to become illuminated was an evil idea though. now i dont, i think that maybe there is a group of people that are illuminated to the secrets of the universe and maybe they hold secrets for a reason. i think there could be different sects of the "illuminati". those that try to hold back the truths of life and the universe and those that want to enlighten humanity. i believe if there was a jesus he would be considered illuminati. i also understand why someone who was privy to the mysteries wouldnt want to bother trying to educate the general population YouTube - Jim Cramer says on TV that the Bavarian Illuminati are not all bad

then you didnt watch the video. sorry you didnt have either the patience or the ability to listen. the word illuminati is pretty much synonymous with "tin foil hat wearing conspiracy theorist" territory. i am not going to waste my time trying to explain what i believe it once was or what it is now.

I also think people are profiting from it, just like the movie 2012. You wouldn't believe how humans capitalize off of fear and misinformation. It's all money.

The illuminati were real. Though I don't know if they are still in existence today or not. The image of the fictional Illuminati seems to be merging with the image of the non-fictional Illuminati. The latter being the group that wanst to chip the population and fluoridate the water supply haha.

It is so popular because there really are secret societies, and politicians really are corrupt, and they do some time have agendas. Governments naturally grow larger and larger, and the people in them naturally want to gain more and more power. So you don't need a highly organized group to lead the government in that direction, it will go that way by itself. The conspiracy is basically a what if. What if the stuff really isn't a coincidence, or a natural trend of governments to get larger but a secret group was really working together to do this stuff? And from that you get all the stories.

I think there's a bunch of guys planning stuff behind closed doors. Why is it that some people have litterally Billions of money, what do they use it for? why do they want BILLIONS. There's people with more money than whole countries have. Money is power.
When a president is elected who do you think gets the most votes?
I can tell you that it's not the most capable president. It's the one that has the most funds to back up his advertising.

I think the game of these people is to bury countries in depth so they can exploit them. They are just like the maffia only this one is on a global scale, maffia organizations seem to be just this process in miniature.
Some people are realizing they are being exploited and show hate to america for it.
These people are being shown on telivision as tho they are "Terrorists" who do everything in their power only to convert you to be a muslim, and all muslims are portrayed as tho they are purely the devil. While in reality the true islam is a pretty decent way to look at life .

for an imaginary group there logo is eveyrwhere in hollywood and in pop music.

Not sure if anyone else has noticed but there have been a few references to the Illuminati in cartoons as of late. GI Joe Renegades (episode 13) and Young Justice (the entire series thus far) specifically.
