REAL ID

Be advised for those in the U.S. who has not already heard of what’s to come in 2008. So here is a heads up. There has been 3 bills passed in 2005, reference: Bill Number H.R.418 for the 109th Congress. You will not believe what these bills Intel. Visit the above link for detailed information. The Real ID Act, passed by Congress and signed by President Bush on May 11, 2005, mandates that all U.S. citizens will receive a National ID card by May 11 of 2008.

Without this National ID, you will not...
• Drive your car
• Board a plane, train, or bus
• Enter any federal building
• Open a bank account
• Hold a job
If you can’t hold a job or have a bank account, how much buying and selling will you be able to do? The U.S. State Department soon will begin issuing passports with radio frequency identification, or RFID, chips embedded in them, and Virginia may become the first state to glue RFID tags into all its driver's licenses. We have just entered the beginning phase of the New World Order.

Okay, hold a job, open a bank account, and driving a car SORT OF make vague sense. I can understand that simply from tax purposes and easily verifiable Car licences, at a bit of a stretch. But enter a federal building or board a bus or train? Jesus Tapdancing Christipher Robinson Crusoe, that's like Big Brother or something.

The last few years have eroded my faith in the US so much that nothing the government does surprises me anymore. Will people protest? A few maybe, but most will go willingly as "patriots" so we can be protected from the emotion of "terror". Myself included, I suppose. Wouldn't want to let anything disturb the flow of income and my precious comfort and lifestyle. Not being a leader myself, I may follow one if there were anyone worthy, but I doubt there will be. Only a few fringe people whom I will admire for their spirit and sacrifice, but hey, why should I give up anything for the rest of this superficial ignorant society who just begs to be taken advantage of? Only if I cared, which I guess I don't. Well I do, but hey there's only so much you can do.

I wonder what would happen if people refused en masse?

What's the problem with having an I.D. card? I have several of them in my wallet right now. This one is going to make things very hard for illegal immigrants, who are really starting to piss me off. (Chill. I am not talking about legal immigrants.) There will be a far more difficult climate for terrorists. This is a great idea.

It wouldn't be so bad if A. It was actually useful to stop illegal immigrants and terrorist and B. It never went any farther. The problem is that neither is true. I mean just look now, illegals get around fine all the time with fake IDs. Heck, illegals some times get valid driver licenses. This isn't going to stop anyone. Secondly, its not going to stop here, that should be obvious to everyone. Just look what happened to driver licenses. At first its just to drive but now you have to use it for all kinds of stuff, and now their making it into a national ID. Next step is that you will have to carrying it every where you go.

And if you think thats a good idea just remeber, the ones who the police are going to harass for not carrying their ID isn't the criminals or terrorist who try and avoid the police at all cost but people like you who try to follow the laws.

No UM this is a very, very bad idea for all of us. Having a card isn't bad because we all carry a license and usually additional ID's for work, but this National ID has an RFID Chip inside of it by the use of Biometric Technology and it will allow the government (and others) to track you electronically. Not only that, our new IDs will have to make their data available through a "common machine-readable technology". That will make it easy for anybody in private industry to snap up the data on these IDs. Bars swiping licenses to collect personal data on customers will be just the tip of the iceberg as every convenience store learns to grab that data and sell it to Big Data for a nickel. It won't matter whether the states and federal government protect the data - it will be harvested by the private sector, which will keep it in a parallel database not subject even to the limited privacy rules in effect for the government.

They gain more control because they do it in two ways.
1. under the false pretense that it is a security measure for US. --Not them (Gov.)
2. They do it ever so slowly by adding this bill and amending this right. This way citizens get the wool pulled over their eyes because they are too blind to see it happening.

"Your papers, please."

Not a question - a demand. This isn't about ID cards - it is about a mandatory NATIONAL ID card.

Read the Declaration of Independence for a foundational understanding in why this is not now nor ever has been acceptable to a nation or government that recognizes and protects rights rather than granting them.

The difference is not subtle or nuanced. This is about requiring the government's permission to go about the pursuit of Life, Liberty and Property.

That she did.

As I see science fiction movies of the past, it is our today's reality.

Yes however think about the cool card your going to get.

Think about it when your cruising around looking for the fly honeyies you be thinking what the hell i did before i had my ID card. Plus if a terroist attack does happen all you need to do is hold it up and your be transported away to safety.

I hope you know see how stupid you were of thinking ID cards are gay.

I am so conflicted. I am so torn up in so many ways. Does anyone else think feel this way? I want to leave the US because it's the fucking shittiest, most rotten country on the planet. But it has so many beautiful things and so much potential that I want to save it. But, what can you do, you know?

Shit. Shit shit shit.

I have so much else to say but all that comes out are expletives.

We're screwed, but I'm going down fighting. It's more fun that way.

By advocating the rights and ideals embedded in the US Constitution and Bill of Rights. By questioning authority mercilessly and encouraging others to do the same. By not being a sheep. By calculating every option, exploring every mode of action, and questioning the legitimacy and necessity of something like the national ID card before submitting to it, like 99% of this country will do.

Not that I will necessarily be able to do anything about it, because if I don't submit to it, I'm done for. If only everyone else rejected it as well.

It's the collective action problem. Everyone knows it is wrong, but if you're the only one that takes action, the penalties are very severe. Therefore no action is taken.

A charismatic leader is needed. A charismatic leader is one who people believe in no matter what, one who is perceived as being able to do anything against any odds, one who drives the collective action of people, en masse, even against the flowing fear of dire consequence. People such as MLK Jr., Gandhi, Mother Theresa, Muhammad, Jesus Christ. The world isn't shaping up to be such a nice place. Who can inspire the belief required to change that? Maybe no one, we'll see.

People don't look up enough.

Oh no, the Martians are coming!

The reason it will have good effects is that illegal immigrants will not be able to get anything accomplished, so they will leave. If these ID's are so high tech, then making fake ones will be close to impossible. If you are worried about the government finding you when you want to hide in the woods for whatever reason, be sure you don't have your cell phone with you.

I too hate stuff when it gets too Big Brother. I think the 4th Amendment almost doesn't even exist any more, and that is terrible. However, this ID card thing, at least in the phase we are talking about, is not a big deal. It will be great for making illegal immigrants so helpless that they go home. It will be great for keeping up with suspected terrorists. It will help us track down America's Most Wanted. If it turns into a big deal, we can vote out every politician who refuses to take it away. That is how our system works. It's not like we're communist or something. The people still have the ultimate power. All we have to do is refuse to vote for scum. That will happen whenever something gets too serious. We still have that system.

And Howetzer, if I get ID #0, it will be such an honor. The first ID card. I will brag about it for the rest of my life.

How do you know you are not dreaming right now?

I can see it now, school children lined up in the cold morning air presenting their ID to get onto the bus to go to school. Another line infront of the school for the kids who decided to walk. An elderly man showing his ID to get into the public library but is having trouble with the system and has to wait around for them to fix it. Cops busting a teenage girl who tried to get on the train, "Sorry but you shouldn't have forgot your identification.".

Oh its truely the american dream! In 20 years when you find yourself face down eating dirt with a 200lb police officer sitting on you because you forgot your ID, I truely hope you remeber this. Remeber, your the one who thought it was a good idea.
