Thread: Area 51: The Frantic Call

In a 1997 syndicated talk show host Art Bell received a frantic call from a man claiming to have worked in Area 51. The entire radio station was zapped off the air as soon as the caller began to reveal detailed plans concerning "aliens" the government, and the population.

I love Art Bell. He is my favorite talk show host of all time. But he always pulled that type of stuff on his show. He had people calling from the future, people calling and saying they were the antichrist, recordings of Hell, and lots of other really interesting stuff. He was excellent at acting like he bought into all of it too. He did everything in the book to legitimize what his guests and callers talked about. It was so cool.

LOL... so it was all a hoax? The guy on the other end seemed pretty convincing.

Well it does seem like a generic fictional plot fragment: a frantic governmental employee escapes from a top secret base while the entire military is searching for him and calls a radio station to release the incredibly frightening secret information he discovered to the world. Along with the generic "first space program met aliens" idea. That concept has flown all over from Power Rangers to Marvel comics and all such. (I'm only aware of the most modern fiction but I'm guessing older fictional novels likely had the same.)

I listened to that exact phone call on the show at the moment it was happening. I remember thinking that the caller sounded very convincingly freaked out of his mind. If he didn't believe what he was saying, he was one Hell of a good actor. It might have been some crazy guy having paranoid delusions who gave Art Bell an on the spot idea to stage a system shutdown. Whatever it was, it was world class entertainment.

Well, these concepts regarding UFO's and the government have been around publicly for generations now. However, they are slowly growing more foundation in reality as time goes by and more information is publicly accessible and known. Back in 1947, the public would've laughed at you and called you crazy for believing the government hides the truth about extraterrestrial research. Declassified projects like Project Blue Book have shown there is cleary something worth 20 years of classified government research without the public's knowledge. Even still, things like THIS have me thrown for a loop.

Whether or not this particular incident in the topic was a hoax, these type of secretive things continually pop up and always leads me to question: Why, and How are these government facilities and projects allowed to operate under public radar without any limitations on what they decide to share with us? Essentially, they are entities unto themselves and have no one to answer to publicly. How do they know what is in our nation's and public's best interests?

Why do people sit back and comply rather than raise these similar questions, or the very least their eyebrows to these strange testing facilities operating under such strict secrecy.

Art Bell does not purposely try to make hoaxes more believable, he merely entertains people that would normally be ridiculed so they can get their arguments out in the open. His show is all about ideas that typically exist outside the norm as most forms of media act like sheepdogs when it comes to any ideas outside fabricated reality.

Heh, that was pretty amusing. It has to be a hoax, if he was disconnected talking about this, why would they allow the video to still be online? while everythings online they can easily track down who put these online and make it "dissapear".

That, and I've independently had dreams of some of this stuff since childhood...

If you listen to art Bell enough you will notice that he often looses calls at the most peculiar times, or most convenient times for his talk show.

You really have to be a sad person or severely misinformed to think that the government has "alien". That's prepostrous.

The only kind of "alien" the government could have is possibly some single-celled anaerobe from nearspace.

You can drive to Area 51. They test aircraft and used to dispose of toxic waste their.

The government kept it a secret because thet's where all of our aircraft were formulated, tested, and then created for our airforce. Naturally you can't just stroll into such an establishment...

Experimental aircraft used to spy on the Soviet Union. If it crashed or was sighted in America, it was safe to stir alien rumours and let the conspiracists confuse things until any chance of the USA spying on the Soviets was out of the question.

Which is exciting enough, to be fair.

Maybe not area 51, but you can't be 100% positive about some "hidden" places. While area 51 can be for aircrafts, maybe there is a secret base underground or something.
I believe somewhere they keep aliens, hell maybe they found something like a stargate and have a base on some other planet. I'd love to have a stargate....imagine walking into a phonebooth or something and under half a second later you are transported from where you live to say the other side of the world. Screw planes!

I'm sure there are secret government bases, and agencies. There are some sectors of government that ought to be secret for obvious reasons. MI5, the FBI, whatever.
It doesn't mean there's anything supernatural or exceptionally out of the ordinary about it.

I wouldn't even be that surprised if there was a department for alien research, particularly in the US. I just doubt they have much to do, that's all.
