And, to add my two cents:

As much as I would like to celebrate the lull in violent activity in the past, what, month(?), the fact remains that 2006 had been the most violent year in Iraq since the war started. Since our invasion, the violence has increased exponentially, over the encompassing months. It has had its ups as well as its downs. In the context of a war that has seen violence jump over 100% in a month, at times, a 50% decrease from one month to the next is hardly cause for celebration, and is definitely not evidence that things are getting better (in the entire scope of the war).

And how did I know that there was going to be a FOXNews endorsement on this thread? While not accusing any one network of any particular thing, to be unaware of the bias on FOX, while denouncing any other network is (IMHO) completely hypocritical. I'd argue that there is a more a pro-nationalist, far right-wing bias attributed to FOX than there is the opposite on most other networks. But, of course, that's beside the point.

I just think that the celebration of a low-violence month (as if it is the foreshadowing of "better things to come") after the major, over-all increase of violence since the war began (yes, even after having "low-months", since then) is a little premature.

I agree with oneironaut. Violence must be measured against the level of violence of much more than a month to be significant in the long term.

It was said earlier that part of the cause of the reduced violence was that there were fewer American soldiers and more Iraqi police. I've read that, in actuality, the number of American soldiers has reached a temporary peak and is greater than any time since the initial invasion. If the reduction in violence is due to those high numbers of US soldiers(I doubt the Iraqi police have suddenly become so capable), it is all but inevitable that violence will increase once the temporary surge strategy ends early next year.

JDog, at least use punctuation in order to make your (weak) arguments legible.

Edit: Gotta make my next post count!

      Victory in Iraq??????

If you are cheering for US to conquer iraq you are cheering the very people who want to rule the world
The whole war is just funding for the rich elite to put us all in in concentration camps.

think I'm joking? do your research people.
