Like the rabbit, a cowardly extremely anxious figure, could very well represent that side of adults and their obsession with time. Think about it, terms like spending time, wasting time etc. all link to one thing: money. Since when can something so precious become a currency?

Well put, Dimethyltrip. It's the creativity that always appealed to me as well, and the manner of transforming everyday sayings and objects into surreal reality. That's what makes the book a classic. From the Cheshire Cat to the Mad Hatter to the Queen of Hearts (it was Hearts, wasn't it? It's been years...).
