This post doesn't even make sense, in context. First off, if you're going to address someone's reaction to something, name names. Don't just say "people," because you got two completely different reactions (between Jeff and myself). You seem so "OMG shocked" that I felt it offensive if you posted the video with an intent to illicit an ill-response from the people here who have so far disagreed with you on the original topic. Do you even know what the word offensive really means? I said, rather calmly, that I felt you were attempting to start something by it. Misunderstanding or not, on my part, is that what you're saying was so "unstable?" You've never seen a video (placed in the middle of such a volatile discussion) arouse such a "pure, emotional response?" Please. Laying it on a bit thick, aren't you?

Secondly, if you were paying attention, nobody who responded said they were offended by the content of the video (because, seriously, how do you get offended by someone in a video?). What was offensive was your - perceptively deliberate - posting of said video in this discussion. The feeling of offense was from you, not the video. Not that hard a concept to understand, really. If you posted it on purpose, with an attempt to falsely associate those who disagreed with you with the kind of stuff that man was saying (which is neither below your usual posting style, nor an unfair assumption on anyone's part, due to the course of the conevrsation up to this point) then it would have been an offensive gesture on your part. Period. And I just want to be clear - You're implying that my mentioning that point is an "unstable, pure, emotional response" (which you're so trying to play up as being much more severe than it was)? If not, maybe you should really further explain who you mean by "people," as it implies more than one person, and think Jeff was the only person who really took offense to it. I closely watch people - like yourself - who tend to lean toward being very abrasive, smug and insulting in their posts. Having seen plenty of your posts and responses, when you disagree with someone, you find it somehow shocking that I doubted the sincerity of your "by the way, this is just a random, innocent video " disclaimer?

Like I said, if you didn't mean anything by posting that video, then there is no foul - and I would have no problem apologizing for presuming it to be deliberate. But don't sit there and act like you are so "*gasp* shocked and appalled" that someone who's aware of how you normally act came to that conclusion. If you are, you need to be a bit more aware of yourself, and how your regular attitude around here has given you that sort of reputation. Maybe then, the next time, it won't come as much of a surprise.

You can properly criticize your government and do a much better job scrutinizing your government without being an asshole. See Noam Chomsky or Bertrand Russell for details of my personal fovourites - these two offer severe criticisms to the government and are much more well known for doing a civil job. What about Michael Moore? While his content is arguable, he, without a doubt, criticizes his government and he manages to do so (and shit-disturb) while maintaining some decency in his media towards the government.

Also even blacks don't know their history. I know I'm from the Caribbean and I know my family and my people as far as I know. I see every day, blacks, whites whoever, always young kids saying things and exemplifying this that Martin Luther King, Malcom X (after his transformation) never taught nor encouraged (thinking the riots in Oakland, where the mob just wanted an excuse to riot and harm innocent people).

I dont think the problem with the video was when he was preaching about the country. When she asked him that he could have said yes and layed out what he wants for the country...but instead he personally attacked HER and went off on a tangent to try and make her seem racist. If he would have stuck to the politics, instead of spouting nonsense, he would have come across much more intelligent.

Yeah I know what he did was absolutely the wrong way to handle it even if she was saying something offensive, he shouldve done something different.

I honestly, truly, did not post it for anything other than entertainment, hence why I said that I posted it for entertainment in the post itself. I didn't even watch it the whole way through. So go ahead and apologize.

If you honestly, truly did not post it with the intention of disruption, misdirection or guilt by association, then I sincerely apologize for assuming so.

However, my apology is based solely on your stating that you didn't post it for the reasons I said, so there also remains the question of whether or not I actually believe you (again, a simple skepticism brought upon by your personality). So my apology comes with a bit of a disclaimer* of my own.

*If you're simply playing 'cover your ass,' and trying to skate off with a fabricated innocence, you can take my apology and shove it.

The difference between you and I is that you have no reason to believe I'd abuse them, as I don't have a track record of doing so.
