Having lived in Vermont and the West Coast, you could get liquor any day. Now that I moved to the south I can't buy it on sundays. Also I found out rather unpleasantly that some counties alcohol is illegal to sell.
But Alcohol is NOT illegal to drink on Sundays, you just need to plan ahead on Saturday.

Germany is kind of an alcohol paradise. You get that stuff everywhere. Anytime.

And the age requirements haven't been enforced that long. When I was still 14 I could
go into a store and buy a bottle of wodka. When I turned 16 they started to check id's
for the age limit of 16 so I was good and when I turned 18 they started to get a lot more
strict with minors, but since 18 is the legal age it didn't affect me. So I was kinda lucky
      all the way through.

I spent 1 year in the USA at the age of 16/17, that was quite a different experience.
You are treated so much as a child compared to germany (legal drinking age 16), I
had a curfew and in general could do a lot less things than I was used to.
