      Dreaming instantly

Would i be right in saying that normally we should be sleeping for quite some time before we start to dream?

I can fall asleep for just a few minutes and have what seems like a really long dream.

Am i going straight into REM sleep when i fall asleep? Is this possible?

      Thanks

Usually, a person when going to sleep for the first time that night will spend most of the time in deep, dreamless sleep. As the night progresses, though, REM sleep becomes longer. The very end of the night is the best time for dreaming for most people. It is possible to have a nap midday and go almost directly into REM sleep. People who can work naps or WBTB into their schedule often capitalize on the WILD technique.

Dreams occur during NREM as well, so you're not necessarily going directly into REM sleep.

      Yea.
But it is possible that you are going straight into REM.
One possibility is that you had slept not long before you go to sleep at night. Like a nap or something.
If you came out of a REM period in the nap, you will probably go straight back into it when you go back to sleep at night, if the nap wasn't too long ago.

Or it is probably possible to have a disorder. But I don't know anything about that.

I think that i have been able to WILD st some of these times, although i find it strange i can do this so easy, it is very enjoyable. The dreams are a lot stranger than the ones i have with a full nights sleep.

I do believe it's possible, I'm pretty sure I read somewhere some narcoleptic people fall directly into REM. I remember being very intrigued when I saw that, know I have link on some txt file.
