Not remembering waking up in the middle of the night

Dear people,

Because there must be many dream experts on this forum I decided to sign up so I can ask you guys a question.
When I was little (...I'm now 18) I sometimes woke up in the middle of the night screaming and crying. My parents would come and comfort me, but I wouldn't respond to anything. They would try to comfort me, make me drink water and go to the toilet an such but I wouldn't REALLY wake up. In other words, my mind wouldnt wake up. After about 15 minutes I would also wake up mentally. and then my parents would bring me back to bed. The next morning I wouldnt remember any of it. In other words, I have never really experienced any of this because I dont remember this happening. My parents told me.
After about the age of twelve I never had these dreams again.

I have an older sister who had the same dreams, but she only had this a few times, and she would remember it the next morning.
I have a brother as well, and he never had anything like this.
But, my little sister has exactly the same as me and she has it pretty often and she also remembers her nightmares, so she never wants to go to sleep because she is afraid she'll dream again.

All I know is that my sisters and I have Epilepsia and my brother doesn't.

So my questions are:
Is this normal?
Does it have anything to do with epilepsia?
Can it be prevented?

Well it sounds to me like something called night terrors. A kid that lives down the road from me gets them bad wuite a bit. Wakes me up whenever I stay over there.

I think you are refering to something called night terrors. apparently when i was younger i would wake up from a nightmare and go downstairs too my parents shouting "its a bok, its a bok" whatever a "bok" is lol i still dont know now probably something from my nightmares. my parents would eventually calm me down and get me back to bed and i wouldnt rember ever waking up the day after.
i dont have epilipsy btw.

just asked my parents about it the other day and they also said id be pointing at something and trying to smack something away with my hands as id be shouting ''It's a bok"". i was probably experiencing hypnopompic imagery of whatever this ""bok"" was from my nightmare.
