To my knowledge if you don't get enough sleep in previous nights you get a sort of REM backlog, this means you experience more REM in the next bout of sleep you get. |

I got to bed at about 10:40 ish, and I was asleep by 11, I woke up at 12:33 from a fairly long dream. Do we dream this early in the night usually? |

Yes, 90 min/cycle is only an estimate. You could have it sooner/later and more/less, depending on the individual and whats going on with them and their sleep, and many other external factors. |
|
With the right sleep cycles, you could have dreams in a 20 min nap!! If your body is deprived of sleep sometimes it will go directly into REM if it know it only has a short time to sleep. |
