      Lucid Sleep Talking

This is kind of weird, thought I'd bring it up.

I have lucid dreams all the time, and I also sleep talk all the time (according to everyone who has ever shared a room with me) and sometimes during lucid dreams I'll say something in the dream and actually the conscious part of myself will realize that whatever my dream self just said came out of my physical mouth as well. I can feel my lips moving, kind of hear a muted noise through the dream.

Does this happen to anyone else?

I don't ever wake up because of the realization, but it's kind of unsettling. If I say something embarrassing and I have friends over, I kind of feel awkward the rest of the dream, kind of half wondering to myself while the dream moves on if they heard that. Haha.

I've never done that and been aware of it, that is strange. Then again I only have a couple lucid dreams under my belt, that could be a factor in realizing it. But I am told I mumble in my sleep and that usually it's not recognizable. A similar experience though, there have been a couple of times where I'd wake up while in the middle of a sentence in the dream and then finish the sentence out loud, much to my confusion. Usually when that happens, I can't remember the dream at all or can't remember the part that the dialog came from. It almost felt like starting to say it aloud is what caused me to wake up. One time I sat straight up, opened my eyes, and flat out yelled something that I can only remember ending with the F bomb and had no idea what prompted it lol.

Yea, I've done that, too! I've woken up talking before, but I usually remember the dream I was having.
Well, maybe once you've had a few more lucid dreams you'll experience it, too.

Actually, I've heard some people say lucid dreams only occur during REM and that sleep talking is apparently impossible during REM, but since I've had this happen to me, one or the other must be false.
It's pretty weird to be aware of your physical and dream bodies at the same time. It doesn't happen to me that often, though. Maybe it's rare for a lucid dream and sleep talking episode to coincide? I don't know. I usually experience it when I'm sleeping over with friends. I think that's because I'm more self-conscious of my body around them.

Perhaps you could project your thoughts in a dream rather than using your dream body to do the talking? That way your body shouldn't get the command to move your lips.

I hope I can have more lucid dreams. It's been so long, but I know I just need to devote more energy toward it.
It does make sense that if you enter a dream state while concerned with what your body is doing that awareness could carry over, especially in a situation where you know you're dreaming

Personally I wonder about anyone who tries to say what is or isn't possible during a dream or stage of sleep. All our fancy machines and they still don't seem to have much of a clue. I've heard it said that we only have any dream during REM sleep, but what about (lucid?) dreams during hypnagogic states?

      That's very strange!
Next time you have a lucid and you're sharing a room with someone, maybe you can try talking to them through the dream... Say "hi guys," or something.
We all live in a kind of continuous dream. When we wake, it is because something,
some event, some pinprick even, disturbs the edges of what we have taken as reality.

Yea, true. That's why I think it must either be possible to lucid during other states vividly or to sleep talk during REM.
Haha well, I'll try? Honestly, I don't have much control over what I do in my lucid dreams. I usually kind of follow my body around, watching the story play out like a movie or novel. The next time I spend the night over with someone, I think I'll try and say something really creepy to keep them up all night.

not meaning to necropost here, since im actually moderately contributing to the topic, but anyway, yeah. this happened to my friend, we were both trying to go to sleep, and he went and each thing that he said only once in the dream he said four times out of his real mouth. but uhh, yeah he mightve just been lying to impress me, since he does that a ton. i have no idea and couldnt tell.
