      Intentionally Inducing Sleep Paralysis?

      Hey there, guys.

I was wondering if any of you knew any techniques on how to intentionally induce sleep paralysis.

      Thanks in advance.

I don't know for sure because I haven't looked into it (don't know why I haven't), but it seems when people use the term 'sleep paralysis' they're refering to one of two things.

      1) Accidentally remaining paralyzed while you're awake, either upon waking up or upon falling asleep. It lasts for a few seconds and then goes away.
      2) The stage of sleep, or a stage right before falling asleep, which people are aware of while doing a WILD. The body is usually paralyzed, but sometimes isn't.

I don't know if these two are actually the same, but it seems they aren't, since (1) is a term specifically used to refer to physical paralysis, but (2) doesn't even necessarily involve physical paralysis. You might want to look into the first steps of the WILD process. Basically, lie still, don't move at all, and allow your mind to relax while at the same time remaining aware and not allowing your thoughts to drift.

I do this all the time. As I start to drift off I hear a scooter engine or a loud air conditioner sound. If I let it get louder and louder as though it were coming toward me, I start to feel floaty and I'm in. It's odd because the physical sensation is very pleasurable but the dreams are not. Good luck.

      Welcome to DreamViews, Ktmarie27!

That sounds more like hypnagogic hallucinations than sleep paralysis, SP is often confused for the sounds, visuals, and sensations we sometimes get when falling asleep or WILDing.

These threads go into more detail about what sleep paralysis is:
