Quite suddenly, I can't recall anything

For about 3 months, I was able to remember a wonderful (average) 3 dreams per night, which was a huge achievement for me since I had such poor recall before trying to improve it.
A while back, about 4 weeks, my dream recall got worse. During that recall, I only remembered one dream per night or so. Then suddenly, nothing. For the past 3 weeks, I haven't been able to remember a single dream. Not a single one. I'm right back where I started 8 months ago on dream recall.

I need advice on how to fix the situation.

      Thanks

You may be having a dry spell. This is normal and happens to a lot of people at some point. I'd recommend waiting for a bit and keep going with the recall practice, and you should come out of it at some point. If you don't think it's a dry spell, you could try using a mantra before you go to sleep to help you with recall - I sometimes use "I will remember my dreams", but you should use what works best for you. Additionally, when you wake up, you should sit still in bed for a few minutes with your eyes closed and just try to remember the last thing you were dreaming about. Sometimes your dream(s) come back to you if you do this.

I'll keep on the recall practice of course. I like remembering my dreams, and have no intention of stopping whatever activities that help me to do that.

Yeah, I do think I'm on a dry spell though. Everything was going so well before, but that stopped.

I can try sitting a few minutes with my eyes closed after waking up to remember my dreams, though I have to stop my alarm clock before I do that.

      Thanks for the advice.

No problem . If possible, it would be good to get an alarm that stops after a certain time, like 5 seconds for example. Then by the time you wake up, it's stopped, and you can stay in bed and try to recall your dreams.

No can do about changing the alarm though.

I never get enough sleep. If I was to re-enter my bed after waking up, I'd fall asleep within 15 seconds. My alarm has to be loud and annoying to properly wake me up. Might have something that interferes with my recall but it's gotta be there or I can't wake up at all.

Ah, that's too bad. Also, I forgot to ask this in my first post. How many hours of sleep do you get, on average, per night? And has the number gone down since 4 weeks ago when you were still recalling dreams?

The number of hours I sleep per night has stayed consistent during the last 10 months, roughly from 1-2am to 6-7am is sleep for me. My most common schedule is from 1:30 to 6:30.

Ideally you should be getting about 7 or 8 hours of sleep, rather than 4 or 5 hours. Longer than about 9 hours doesn't make much more of a difference unless you're sleep deprived. And shorter than 7 hours means you don't go into as many REM periods, so less dreams.
