Need WILD help/advice for salivating during attempts.

Like some others in the forums I have trouble during my WILD attempts because I often find myself salivating and having to swallow. This is particularly troublesome because when I feel myself entering some of the latter stages of WILD I get the urge to swallow, one which I am physically unable to ignore; swallowing inevitably leads me back to the start of my WILD attempts.

Some solutions I have seen are unrealistic, such as a drainage tube. Are there any tips/ways of solving this problem? Any way to position yourself, lie, or otherwise quell the need/urge to swallow/salivate?

      Greatly appreciated

First things first. Make sure you're WILDing after sleeping for a few hours. If you succeed a WILD before getting any sleep, the dream will be very short, unstable and take forever if at all to start.

Secondly, you are ALLOWED to swallow your saliva. You are ALLOWED to breathe. Those movements that occur during sleep are allowed and will not affect your WILD. At least, not in my experience. Just don't move your limbs and be TOTALLY relaxed. Empty your mind of most thoughts, except for your anchor (which should only require very slight awareness).

Last thing which is a mistake many new WILDers make. Be sure to actually have intentions of falling asleep as you WILD, while retaining only an inkling of consciousness. If you are totally aware, your body will usually not fall asleep. I made this mistake and wasted a lot of precious rest time just being totally aware. It's more than just staying still and keeping your eyes closed. To dream, you actually have to be asleep

      Happy WILDing!

Maybe you're thinking too much about swallowing/not swallowing? Try to be less conscious of the need to swallow and just let it happen as necessary like your breathing, hopefully that will help. I used to concentrate too much on my breathing during meditation and mess it up, but I can't recall having an issue with swallowing. I assume it's the same thing though.
