Has anyone else had this or know what this is?

Over the course of my life I have noticed that in certain places, I seem to have weird dreams. By this I mean... when I stay in hotels, or for instance I stayed 2 nights in my cousins 2 room apartment that I had never been before, and not really feeling any particular way about the place while awake, when I went to bed, I had just the most weird dreams. Most of them were spent battling some invisible entity and just waking up exhausted and basically all wound up. This has happened to me various other times throughout my life mostly sleeping in hotel beds or what have you. I hardly ever have a bad dream when sleeping in my normal bed at home, so I wonder if I am "picking up" on something or if this is just something that many people experience when sleeping in strange places.

Yeah, it's from sleeping in a strange place. On a deep level, your guard is up; unfamiliarity = danger. And since dreams are in some part rehearsals for situations - encountering predators etc - dreams put us on high alert in a dangerous situation.

I always have at least 1 nightmare when I stay in a hotel. I also tend to recall dreams better when I am staying in an unfamiliar place.

I think one reason you are remembereing these weird dreams when you are in a hotel is because when you sleep in a different way than you are used to or are a little uncomfurtable it can be easier to remember your dreams. Also I agree with Darkmatters that they would be weirder because you are anxious about the unknown.

agreed with everyone else here. It's because of when you stay in an unfamiliar place, you mind is a tiny bit more active in sleep than normal because you are cautious.

Any questions about lucid dreaming? Drop me a PM here!
