I found that during particularly stressful (read: hormone-rich) days, I'd have a much harder time having lucids. |

I remember when i was around 8-11 years old,i could say to myself that i was about to go to sleep and if the next thing i don't see is me waking up in my bed i was in a dream. Which naturally gave me sudden realization that i was in fact sleeping and was in a dream. So of course i used this as a way to control my dreams nearly every night.Which was truly an amazing experience for me. But now i am 18 and its really difficult for me to have a lucid dream, which sucks because I'm a guy that loves to sleep,a lot ! so was this the same case for you? Was it easier for you to have a lucid dream at a younger age? And if this is common what is the explanation ? |

You have longer REM cycles when your a child, also you get more sleep when your a child. Also babies have a huge amount of REM when they sleep so they dream a lot. You dream during a REM cycle. I never tried lucid dreaming when I was a kid and if I did, I don't remember. |

It was just the opposite for me. The older I've gotten the more LD's I had. Most of my child-hood dreams were low-level lucidity, where I would wake myself up from a dream to get away from something chasing me. I didn't actually start experimenting with LD's until years later after I've became a teenager. |
