      Does this mean anything?

Last night I went to bed doing inductions for my dream recall, which has slipped the past couple of days. After only recalling a sliver of a dream, which I wrote into my journal, I went back to bed and repeated the induction. This time I remembered a portion of the dream, and after sitting still for awhile, parts of the dream came back to me.

After I entered it into the journal I went back to bed again and did the induction again. However, while I was doing this, Another part of the previous dream came to me. At least I think it was part of the last dream. In this dream I wake up in my bed, but I question if I was really awake or If I was dreaming.

At this point I look at my hands. I don't know if anyone had this experience with the hands before, my hands looked transparent as if they were glass. In fact, I looked at them three times. Now, I didn't experience any great sense of awareness, so that makes me wonder was this merely happening in my dream story line.

But this is not the only thing that happened. Every time i looked at my hands my room, from my visual point of view looked and felt as if it were slightly moving. I don't know if anybody remembers the old analog t.v. sets, how whenever there was a bad reception the picture would start to roll and them fall back into place. That's what it was like.

Keep in mind I am not claiming that I had a near LD. I'm just wondering could this be a positive sign that I am making progress. This was after all the first time I ever did a reality check in my dreams. I understand that a failed reality check sometimes mean that you are mindlessly doing RC in waking life. Let me assure you, I DO NOT do mindless RC. I always question my reality and ask if I'm dreaming.

So, whether or not this was a real RC or not, I have to feel that this means something.
Any insight would be greatly appreciated.

Yes, this is a step in the right direction, definitely. You must be gaining awareness if you are critically analyzing or looking at your hands more regularly in your dreams. I would say by doing this then it is only a matter of time before you do have an LD of some description in my opinion.
I remember looking at my hands in a dream (I already was lucid beforehand as I recognised a dreamsign) where when I moved them they went all blurry, in a sort of in slow motion. I found it really funny, sort of laughable. I couldn't believe it. (The reason I looked at my hands is because I had heard that it is a common technique used in attempting to stabilize a lucid dream.)
Have a look out for other dreamsigns and common occurences as you are getting better awareness. Good awareness and dream recall are the key.
Find an RC which works for you. I do the palm through the finger one, however half the time it 'fails', (I.e: Acts like real life.) so I'm learning to back it up with the nose pinch RC where you try to breath through, etc.

If you get 'bedroom' dreams (like I did today) then try and do an RC to try and rule out any 'False Awakening's' like the one you described. Do them in real life as soon as you get up - you never know?

      Good luck.

I was hoping that was the case, and the bedroom RC is a good idea. I'll do that.

      Thanks.

When you say "inductions for my dream recall" what exactly are you doing? I'm not familiar with this use of the word 'induction' in context.

Other than that I would say you are closer to a LD. Keep up the RCs.

I probably used the wrong word. Whatever the right terminology is, I go to bed and repeat over and over in my head something like, "I remember my dreams" keeping it in the present tense.
