Unhappy Has this ever happened to you?

So sometimes when I wake up from a dream, I'm like: 'Did this really happen? Oh wait it was just a dream'. But I had a dream 3 weeks ago. And for 3 weeks I kept thinking it was real. Today I realised it was just a dream, which wasn't even lucid. I'm not gonna explain the dream because it's way to personal. But I don't think that's normal tbh. I'm kinda afraid if I become a consistent Lucid dreamer more stuff like this will happen. Not losing grip of reality, but just not sure if my memories are dreams or reality. I still can't believe I thought it was real for 3 weeks. And it wasn't even a silly thing but it was kinda 'big'. D: Did stuff like this ever happened to you before?

I can see you sleep through your bedroom window. You're killing yourself with lucid dreaming.

This doesn't quite compute for me -

If lucidity means that you know you're dreaming while you're dreaming, then how could you mistake it for waking life? I mean, I understand it happeneing with a regular (non-lucid) dream, but I don't understand how it could happen with a lucid one.

I've had very vivid, realistic dreams (non-lucids) a few times before where I would get them mixed up with a memory.

One time, when I was moving back to college and had packed everything up the night before, I woke up and I would have SWORN I left like half my clothes at my grandmothers house--where I would stay often over the summer, cause my fathers side of the family is all in that area-- and for an hour or so I kept thinking that I needed to call her before I left. As it turns out, I was just a dream about forgetting them cause I was worrying a bit about forgetting my shit the night before lol.

I've never had any that I didn't realize were a dream for THAT long though, and its never been anything too important/dramatic... Id say that as your recall gets better, this will happen less and less. However I'd advise on being cautious. =]

Yes, i also got some overlapping memories in real life and dream life. But then try to find the gaps (the unrealistic dream signs) in all those memories and try to focus on them so you put it in the "dream memory box" instead in the IMPORTANT STUFF TO REMEMBER FROM REAL LIFE box . That might help.

I only experience it once and I really thought it was real. Writing waking life diary make me realize it just a dream.

It's only happened to me once, and that was in kindergarten. I told my best friend about it, and remember believing it was true for a few years until I found out otherwise. It's a very awkward dream though, so I won't tell it

I think that I've had that, although I would have to check my DJ to confirm it as I think I wrote it as a side note in my report the other month.
Basically I seemed to get confused and a bit muddled after waking quite a few minutes after where I couldn't distinguish a dream fragment/thought from a waking one at the time.
Thankfully it is a very rare occurence for me.

I had a dream once where I told my grandmother that I wasn't going to beat her up (I do love my grandmother very much, and would never do anything to hurt her, but it was a time when i was very angry with her). The next day I thought I had said it for real so I asked her if I had, she told me I hadn't. This was about 5 months ago, but it still feels like a real memory, although I know it was only a dream.

I have the same thing happen to me quite often i find thinking about things that are on your mind lately (because your dreams will often be about what is on your mind) dunno how it helps it just tends to snap me into realizing that that was a dream.

That's what reality checks are for. But usually I know whats dream and physical reality.

Last night though I woke up after a hour of sleep and wondered if I was in a dream, I was generally confused for a minute.
