An Interesting Theory-Can You Dream Of Anything You Want?

Ok, I hope I'm posting this in the correct section.

I'm not sure if this is a generally accepted theory or not, but it seems like we often dream about things because they're unresolved in our minds, so therefore our brain gives us a dream about a thing in order for our conscious selves to decide what we really think about it, and therefore answer the question.

So, I have this theory then that based on that, it may be possible to make yourself dream about anything you want. All that would be necessary would be to think of the subject in a way which would make it seem inconclusive, and unresolved. Your brain might then think it's an issue that needs an answer, and make you dream about it.

What do you all think about this? Right now, it's only a theory, but I'm wondering if anyone's actually found a way to make this work for them. I'm sure it'd be an incredible thing if it did in fact work.

      .
One thought that comes to me is that my quest for lucidity is both inconclusive and unresolved yet my grey matter often seems quite reluctant to make me dream of lucidity or even dream issues! I will look through my DJ though and see if my common dream subjects are issues from my life that are inconclusive and unresolved or if there's some other pattern at work.
My LDing record, if you want to hear about it, is about 4 WILDs, 1 DEILD, and the rest DILDs.

It has nothing to do with unresolved issues. It's all about what has captured your attention. Sure, unresolved issues can be the focus of your attention, but you don't need to turn stuff into issues, it's your focused attention that's important.

Look into dream incubation. It's all about focused attention.
