Haven't Really Recalled A Dream in 6 Years

My dreams are now usually just a quick vague image or two with no sound or sense of time. There's neither a negative or positive atmosphere, just nothing. I'll remember two or three of these a month (Or I could go months without remembering a thing), and this is if I write it down.

I've been keeping a dream journal (albiet inconsistantly) for 8 years. I've taken melatonin, valerian root (and tried not taking those too), ask myself to recall a dream (I do this every night except for the following), and tried to just forget about wanting to dream incase that was causing my brain to try too hard and therefore not remember.

At first I thought it was because of depression, but I've been out of that for over a year and still no change. Sometimes if there is a lot going on in my life my dreams will rise to fuzzy dreams with some time, sound, and atmosphere, but even if I log them all in a journal, they eventually fall away even though I didn't lose interest. These fuzzy dreams come about twice a year or so.

      Any suggestions? I'll take anything.

First suggestion, look at what intoxicants you use. Most intoxicants alcohol, pot, and spice included hamper dream recall.
Second, Every night when ever you randomly wake up strive to remember at least one word related to what you were dreaming and write it down. Later in the day sit and think about the word, just to see if any recall happens. Then increase it to two words, then 3. This is training your brain to think about the dreams as soon as you awaken.
Peace Be With You. Oh, and sure, The Force too, why not.

I've never smoked pot, and I don't drink alcohol. As for spice I used to use way too much cheyen powder on everything, but I completely stopped using it a month ago, though I remember using a lot of this when I was younger and I don't remember it affecting my dreams.

Writing anything down, no matter how insignificant, is what I've been doing for the past month now, though I haven't been trying to recall anything about it beyond that so I guess I'll try that next and see if it works and report back...
