My Dreams Often Make References to Other Dreams

      Hey All, thanks for reading!

Basically, the people in a lot of my dreams make references to events that happened in different past dreams. In my dreams, I remember those past dreams..and while I'm dreaming, it's almost like I know that what I'm remembering is a dream, but I just can't fully realize it. I hope that makes sense! Anyway, thanks!

That happens to me sometimes, hasn't in a while though. A while ago over three nights, I had continuations of dreams I had the night before, which was pretty fun (for the most part anyway). I also remember a dream I had a few years ago where one of my old stuffed animals leapt up and started talking to me, and we went on a quest. I said "I've had this dream before!" and the stuffed animal said "No no no, this is a sequel."

      Never happened to me

But since I started to LD, I have occasional references to WL.

Yes, I have had this experience. There are a few "storylines" in my dreams with recurring Characters, and they remember me as well as I remember them. They reference me back to past dreams and experiences. Your subconcious holds onto everything, even dreams, hah. ^^

It's enjoyable, being friends with SMART DCs instead of those other, well, you know.

So funny, after i wrote this, last night in my dream I was running with some people away from an erupting volcano and boulders were landing just feet from us killing people. I told them to stay with me, because I have seen this before and I know the safe path.

I have déjà vu a lot in my dreams, where it seems as though I've dreamed it before while in the dream. However, when I wake up, I either: never had the dream I was recalling whilst dreaming, or if you want to keep an open mind, it was referencing a dream I had already consciously forgot

Haha yes, I do have a few storylines going. God they can be fun. Some are nightmarish storylines so I don't like those so much but there's a couple good ones I like.

That's quite common... the problem is that you don't really know if you've dreamed about a past dream or if you've created a new dream from scratch and then imagined you had dreamed it before

Dreams that make allusions to other dreams? I like the idea, but I don't think I have ever had one like that. I'm going to guess that it comes down to how an individual's brain works. I have had dreams which are similar to each other I guess, but I have don't think I have had referential dreams.

The other night I had a dream that spanned the entire night. Technically they were separate dreams, but they continued with the same story and characters every time I fell back to sleep. I felt compelled to find out what happened next, like a good book. I knew I was dreaming, but I didn't do anything about it; I wasn't lucid though. They were layer-zero lucid dreams for those of you that know what I'm talking about. I occasionally have experiences like this, and when I do, they tend to reveal my subconscious thought.

I get that a lot. I have a few "settings" that keep coming back, in which i 'll go through similar stories. Sometimes a few nights appart, sometimes years appart.

I get semi-lucid easily in those dreams since i recognise the dreamscape. Then it becomes like a game, where the goal is to "do better" this time, whatever that means. I always play by the rule though, and never "cheat" through full lucidity.

I basically have a real life and a dream life. All of my dreams take place in fictional places i have created over the years. they don't usually change. The places have small pieces from real life places but as a whole they are completely fictional.

I have this too. I remember things that happened in another dream like it is a real memory. Only in Non-lucid dreams though.

Pakman43, Does that makes it easier for you to tell your dream life apart from your real life? Creating a whole different dream world?
