Is anybody aware of a way to chart your sleep cycles...like they would in a sleep lab?

I tried an app once but it wasn't very helpful. I think this would be amazing information to have. I would think there are some peripherals that one could plug into a computer to monitor your brain waves while sleeping. I did find this Muse lets users monitor their brain waves on mobile devices but it's not in production...and it might never be.

If you have a smartphone, there are several apps you can do this with. You simply lay the phone on your bed and it records the phone movement which shows when you're in your deepest sleep and your lightest, and when you briefly wake up after a dream and toss a bit.

If you do not have a smartphone... I'm not so sure.

I don't sleep by myself so I can't get decent data out of the apps. This gives me an idea...maybe I could just video tape myself. If they just monitor movement I could roll tape and get the data this way...hmmm
