      Vitamin B6

Hi everyone, I have read that Vitamin B6 helps with creating more vivid dreams and improves your recollection. The recommended amount for my age group is 1.3mg. I also found out that 0.4mg is in one bannana and I was wondering if I ate three bananas, would it amount to the same effect a Vitamin B6 tablet would give me?

Vitamin B6 really only improves vividness of dreams in much higher doses. Most tablets you'll find are 100mg, so unless you want to eat 250 bananas, it won't be nearly as effective.

However, also be careful, as 100mg is the maximum safe daily dose. You can take more if you want to, but do not take an increased dose for long periods of time. A good suggestion would be to maybe take 200mg for 3 days and then none for a week or two. Experiment at your own risk if you like, but be sure not to overdo it.

Unless you have a medical reason, like a vitamin deficiency and you discussed with a doctor, you shouldn't take it. I know that vitamins are not drugs, but I was once obsessed with becoming lucid that I bought, something called Choline Bitartrate. I found that it contain ingredients that can cause cancer. I even had to get it online from Walgreen because of that reason. The pharmacists didn't even know about it. After talking to him on the benefits that it promises, such as memory and concentration, he told me he wouldn't recommend taking a risky drug. I asked him if he recommends any vitamins to take. The pharmacist told me "Honestly no! I don't recommend any vitamins or pills" and he told me to just exercise (run) and eat healthy.

I believe it has nothing to do with the vitamins, it is a placebo effect. I do not know if the banana will give you the desired affect, it might. I am just telling you my opinion and what the pharmacists told me.
