Thread: Walking/Running Barefooted

Why would it mean anything? Should it mean anything? Why would we know what it means? Are there any other relevant details of information that you can provide? It's pretty hard to give answers with so little information.

I'd personally be inclined to believe that there is no meaning to being barefoot in your dreams. It could simply be an odd quality that your dreams just so happen to possess. That would be great actually because that means you could use barefeet as a dream sign to become lucid.

If you commonly go to bed barefoot then that could be another cause for the dreams.

One would need more information about the dream(s) and the dreamer, but generally speaking dream images can often be seen as metaphors. So these dreams may have something to do along the lines of "you have nothing on your feet" (no shoes), that is, no standpoint of your own, etc. In Interpretation of Fairy Tales, von Franz says:

”The shoe is a symbol of power, for which reason we speak of being ’under someone’s heel’ or stepping into one’s father’s shoes.’ ... Shoes are the lowest part of our clothing and represent our standpoint in relation to reality – how solidly our feet are planted to the ground; how solidly the earth supports us gives the measure of our power.”

But since we don't know the actual dreams, and know nothing about the dreamer, it is of course impossible to know what this symbol "means". Hopefully this is some value for you nonetheless.
