Is practicing to want to lucid dream enough to trigger lucidity?

      Hi everyone,
      my question:
is resolving and wishing to lucid dream alone enough to trigger lucidity? That would be nice, because it would be a very natural way to lucid dream I think. I enjoy dreaming and I really enjoy the feeling of becoming lucid after I pinch my nose.

The techniques that I have tried so far, MILD and ADA also worked for me, just it would be nice if I could sort of train my will to lucid dream and have that as a technique in itself. I felt like for something as natural as dreaming, there should be a very basic and natural way to become lucid.

I actually stopped dream journalling after some 180 dreams because I felt like it is not necessarily helping me to recognize my dreams as they are happening, and that I am basically just collecting dreams.

      Thoughts, ideas?

I don't think the will to lucid dream alone is enough to actually have a lucid dream. If you think about it enough it'll eventually happen but you'll see a decrease in lucid dreams.

I stopped journaling for awhile and doing RCs and after a week or so I had a very hard time lucid dreaming until eventually it all just stopped. I've had about 1-2 lucid dreams every few months without doing any RCs or anything special so I wouldn't recommend it...

If you really wanted to try, it'd probably be best to continue doing ADA while trying to think about lucid dreaming enough in the day to achieve having a regular pace of lucid dreams.

I've been practicing less awareness in the day as well and my results have dropped. I guess it's something that requires continual attention.

This is called auto-suggestion, and it is enough to trigger lucidity. But, how well it works depends on how proficient you already are with the fundamentals of in-dream awareness and memory.

I suggest you try it out and see how well it works for you.

It is enough. Now I am not sure what degree of success you will have, but you can have lucid dreams just from wanting them. Just thinking about lucid dreams on a regular biases improves how often you will have them.

The biggest thing for having lucid dreams is having good recall. Which is why dream journals are really helpful. If you remember all your dreams every night you will have a few random lucid dreams every now and then even without trying. If you can't recall anything, then you might end up forgetting a lot of them and that can hurt results. Luckily dream recall is easy to get back. So if you stop doing your dream journal and you get poor results and lose recall you can start again and it will not really hurt you.
