Something that happened 21 years ago

Once when I was 12, I dozed off while reading in bed, and when I woke up I was crying. It seems to me that there was a song in my head that I had listened to about 1 year earlier (when I was 11). This was connected to a feeling as though I had a lost memory associated with the song. Not something upsetting that was suppressed, but something that was beautiful and I couldn't remember it. I found that when I listened to the song, as well as some others, this forgotten memory was associated with it. But I never quite figured out what it was.

I was obsessed with this for years. Finding the answer was probably my biggest goal in life for quite a while. Even now I think about it sometimes and try to remember. I don't listen to the associated songs if I can help it, because I don't want the memory association to be replaced by different memories.

Anybody had a similar experience or have any insights on this?

You could try meditating on it, with the the intention of recovering the memory? Maybe play the song on repeat while you meditate. And then just let your mind drift, and see if you can catch any flashes from Source.

I did something similar once. I was trying to figure out why sometimes I just felt sad for no reason. I meditated on it, and memory surfaced of my grandfather's funeral, 5-6 years old, I was looking up into the grey sky. I had almost forgotten. Anyways, it worked. Isn't it weird? That unprocessed sadness was being carried inside me for so many years..

Good luck getting your memory back.

For many years I have wondered, and still wonder, about a similar-ish thing.

This is one of my earliest conscious memories, I must have been three or four, but don't remember precisely. It was a sunny day and I think it was early in the day; I was at the back of our home looking through the balcony windows. I don't remember what my eyes were focusing on or which direction I was looking in exactly, but I just started singing some sort of melody. I started to cry as I sang, and I've never known why. Just as this was happening, I think my mother or some other adult came through to where I was and asked me something, probably if I was fine or why was I crying. That's all I remember though.

The melody was made up and not part of any song I (consciously) know of. Even thinking about this memory still makes me emotional, and I still have no idea why.

Singled out from some of my favourite quotes from Sid Meier's Alpha Centauri: "Risks of [Planet] flowering: considerable. But rewards of godhood: who can measure? - Usurper Judaa'Maar: Courage: to question."
