Well I've been willing myself to LD every night and I've only had 2 ld's in the past 3 months. My recall has gone down considerably. I'm checking into the forum less and less. I'm beginning to lose any motivation to LD due to lack of anything interesting happening in my dream world. is this normal?

Ranma-- Don't you dare give up! I'm on a dry-ish spell, too. But they won't last... Before we know it we'll be having lots of really cool dreams again... Maybe you don't have to will yourself so hard to LD, but at least check in here. It will keep it on your mind. It's toally normal (for me at least) to have good and bad spells with dreaming. The good dreams will come.... Hang in there.

Hey you. Yeah that's totally normal. Happened to me. I was away from here for 3 years! One part of me wants to say keep going but the other part wants to say that maybe it's okay to take a break from this.. not a long one of course, but just a small break.. you might come back refreshed and ready for action. Who knows, maybe once you stop thinking about this altogether you might have a LD out of the blue and that will motivate you once more. Here's what motivated ME to come back: reading the thread "DCs say the darnest things". Omggggg that's some brilliance there!! Really motivated me to start up my dream journal again and try for LDs.

Take a break from any efforts from lucidity for a week or two, and when you come back, try becoming lucid using different methods. Taking a break can help a lot, and varying your methods makes becoming lucid less tedious, and gives you a chance to find something that works better for you.

I got bored because I wasn't having good lucid dreams and stopped keeping a journal and stuff. Now I regret it, because it has taken me a long time to get back to where I was before. Keep having lucid dreams!

is this normal? No, no, it's not normal! You have to keep trying! But not to the point where it makes you unhappy. I know, it's frustrating when a dryspell lasts so long. I don't understand why it seems so easy sometimes, and other times it just seems impossible. Well maybe take a break, but don't forget about us completely! Like TS said, check in every so often, keep it in the back of your mind, I bet when you least expect it, it will happen again. Aren't you going somewhere this summer? Maybe the change of scenery will help.

I sure hope you don't completely give up though. You're a good guy and we'd like to keep you around. However, we want what's best for you so if you need a break then do so. Just wondering, have you been getting plenty of sleep lately? I'm sure you're aware that the later REM periods of the night have the most dream activity, time-wise. For example, if you were to cut down from 8 to 7 hours, you'd reduce your total dream time by somewhere around 1/2. I forget the exact figures so that's a guesstimate.

You want LD's Take a shot of estrogen or two, grow some boobs and experience real empathy. That will give you a boost, women have the best memories in the world, when it comes to emotional events anyways, estrogen allows ideas to be remembered almost instantly boosting your dream content because of the way it wires the grey matter in the brain.
