outside noises in dreams

does that ever happen to anybody? when a noise coming from the waking world correlates directly with your dream you're having? this usually happens to me in the morning... ex. they are installing some new cables under my street, and as one of the jackhammers went off, a machine was turned on in my dream. It was like one of those mass production machines like you see on "how its made" and everytime the hammer would sound outside the machine would turn on and produce products also, the garbage truck passing infront of my house gave noise to my dream creating a monster truck that was really alive and a monster! ha has anybody else experienced this?

yea, that happens to me to. My alarm clock with often times have a nasty effect on my dreams before I wake up. Everything will go chaotic for a second then i'll wake up, or if someone is trying to wake me up, i'll here "shadows" of their voice in my dream. But its not just sounds for me. Sometimes I'll dream that i'll get shot, punched in the stomach, or choking etc.. and wake up right after and feel exactly what I felt in the dream, but it will turn out to be chest pain, stomach cramp, or extremely dry throat. I can imagine that any of the 5 senses will have an effect on your dreams.

No, I just hear them while I'm on the dream, but they never affect it.

One time I was dreaming that I was sleeping over at my friends's house, and we were in the kitchen. My alarm came on with a song about "I wonder what it would like to be a rain maker" which you may remember from the 90s and a big 4ft tall rain drop appeared in his pantry. I thoroughly enjoyed it. So yes, this does happen to other people too. I've heard of the "touch" connection in that regard but never experienced it. It obviously wouldn't work with taste or sight though, unless someone put food in your mouth

I'm certain this has happened to me, though I can't recall examples off the top of my head. I know there have been times when I napped with the TV on and whatever was going on on TV made its way into my dreams.

Younger, I was living perpendicular to a street. I remember dreaming that I was in a racing car and crashing. I woke up right then and heard my father running around the house in the middle of the night. I didn't understood what went on until the morning when I saw car tracks on the grass and traces of impact on the tree that was right in front of my room! Could have been very dangerous... That dream is still very vivid. I'm not a pro on the matter, but maybe dreams are easier to remember when they have a direct outside stimulus? I still remember many dreams that includes outside noises. Just lately, and this was the reason I'm back here after one post in many years, is that I forgot to shut the radio before sleeping. In the middle of the night the noise woke me up. Suddenly I found myself having trouble offing that radio...Instead, stations were changing after every try...and then found curious that there was only two stations now...Suddenly I realize something was fishy and said to myself : He! It's because I'm dreaming! This was the first hint of lucidity in many years. I decided to finally shut down the radio and slept well after that...In the morning the music was still playing... That got me reinterested in LD and here I am! :-) Oniver Ps : My english may not be "perfect"...
