      7 Dreams 1 Night

Wow i had 7 dreams tonight(actually 9 but forgot 2) , managed to write everything down. lately I have a lot of nights with 5-9/10 dreams. Does this mean i'm getting closer to being able to LD ?

Also, I suspect one of my dreams showed me my DG but i wasn't lucid so didn't get to investigate, but i really think she could be my DG (I'll keep that for another post, don't have time now i really gotta go)

That's impressive recall! Keep it up, you're bound to recognise a dream sign one of these times and become lucid.

      A Dream

I had to replace a burnt out light,
which I was sure was a single bulb.
I found I had to stand on a chair,
which felt as if it was made of stone.
And I had to lean against a wall
and rest my head upon an edge
      opening on an unfathomable hole.
And I had to grab the chandelier
to steady it to change the bulb.
And when I did then lights ignited,
more lights than I knew were there,
a second, which had seemed extinct,
and another I couldn’t see before,
      and then thousands flickering with
      a perfect, brilliant pearly sphere
hovering at the center of it all.
And under the lights the chair ignited,
ten thousand sights, and the great abyss
was full of water so pure it was invisible
but for the glittering play of lights
that revealed “the vasty fields of France”
and that jewel set in the silver sea.

That is amazing! Way to go! The more dreams you remember, the more dreams you will be able to put into your dream journal, and the more your recall will increase. It will help you get closer to a lucid because you will be able to recognize a dream sign, and you will be able to format the dreamsign into a mantra, thus being able to catch a lucid!

Guys thanks, i can use the motivation !
I haven't been at it very long, i'm just wondering ever since i re-started the whole lucid dreaming thing (January this year) my Dream amount has been like 5-10ish every day but today was different since i actually captured 7 out of 10. last week i captured like 6/6 dreams.

Is this a lot or a little ?

Maybe the amount of dreams people have is different for each person. Although I pretty much always have more than one dream and last night i had lots of short ones and then the last one turned out to be lucid! So maybe it is a sign of attaining lucidity, i dunno!

In my opinion that is a lot! I only remember 1 dream per night, you're lucky! But then again, if they're long, hand cramp!

I think you've hit the max. You can only have so many dreams in one normal sleep session, no matter how you go about. Improving recall isn't going to change that.

That is some excellent recall. I would say that you are totally ready to be lucid dreaming.

Start looking at some basic techniques, and try to think about what works best for you. For example if you go to school every day, MILD is a great choice, but if you're a lazy college student with all night classes, WILD is something you can try every night. The most important thing to remember is finding something you know you can stick to--then STICK to it.

Hmm, it looks like you don't have your journal up on Dreamviews yet, so yeah for now I guess you're on your own. A lot of times, it can be really helpful posting it somewhere because then another pair of eyes is reading it and they may be able to see things that you don't like dreamsigns.

It might help to break it down into several big groups first: places, people, activities, ect.

So first go through some really obvious places. Your house, childhood home, schools, hangouts, ect. Then go through close family and friends. Then activities--running, flying, working, studying.

If you want, you can try only going through things from the last couple of weeks--remember that dreamsigns can often change, so what you should be most concerned with are the things that are appearing in the recent past.

what im doing is extracting places, people, and re-occurring patterns,

[[[ one obvious that happened twice ( i kept a DJ for 2 days last year) once a year ago once now since january : the same acquaintance in my dream and then there's trouble; cops or war. funny though i never got in trouble with him. ]]]

So i was saying i'm extracting these things and putting a " + X " to them. right way to do it ?

As long as it's easy for you to keep track of it, any system will do fine.

Ah, no problem. If and when you get a DJ up on Dreamviews, let me know so I can subscribe to it.

Ok i might, thing is, my native language isn't english, i get up in the morning and start making one in my language, but i might consider putting one up here, it would indeed be a great help. Might even translate my journal i have now, but would take a lot of work cause it's like 50 + already and pretty detailed...

by the way i'm not gonna write my nightmares down, because my nightmares are, i don't know, just too ugly, i don't know if it's the same for everyone but i don't think so. I mean, i wake up and can be scared in waking life for over 15 mins everytime. They are disturbing...

is it a good idea not to write nightmares in my DJ ?

Ah, I can see if it would be a pain to rewrite it in English. It's up to you, just depending on whether or not you have time. It is nice to be able to post a DJ, but you can still enjoy pretty much all the benefits of a DJ if you keep it private.

When it comes to nightmares--again, that's up to you. We do allow minors on this forum so if there is a lot of sex or violence, just post a warning or put it in a spoiler or something. I mean, you can't always control the content of your dreams (even lucid sometimes!) so no one can blame you if they're a little disturbing.

Personally, I keep the really graphic stuff to myself, but that is only because I don't feel comfortable sharing it. That's fine too. Dreams can be very personal. Don't feel like you need to share more than you want to. The Dream Journal section is viewable to anyone even if they're not logged in, but the Waking Journal section is only viewable to you.

If you have nightmares that bad, I think that you should at least write them down in a private place. A lot of times, the reason a nightmare is so scary is that our mind is trying to tell us something important. If you are that terrified, you will definitely remember the dream, right? So it's important to think about what kinds of nightmares you have, and think about what they might be telling you.

The last thing about nightmares is that a nightmare itself is a dreamsign--you can use it to get lucid. When you become lucid, remind yourself that it's not real and face the nightmare. Stand your ground and demand the adversary or situation tell you why it is there. If you face a nightmare like this, generally the nightmare will never return.

It's not violence, not sex, there's not even a moment you scare ( you know like those Boo-moments)

They're just so fucking hellish ? I cannot imagine (most of) my nightmares wanting to tell me anything. Like the one i had last week, what possible sense was there in that nightmare, none, i can think about it how much i want to, that nightmare was a pure mindfuck.

Seriously i saw disturbing creatures doing disturbing things in disturbing ways.

Hm, well, when it comes to meaning of dreams and nightmares (or lack thereof), the dreamer knows best. Hopefully if/when you become lucid you'll be able to banish any meaningless nightmares.

      Congrats on your first lucid!

(Sorry, don't know any animators. Your best bet is the Art Design Team forum. )
