Talking Flying for the first time!!!

Last night I flew in a dream for the first time, like REALLY flew!
I've had dreams before where I can jump and stay in the air for a fair amount of time and at great heights, well for a jump. And doing that before I had stayed in the air and flew for a long time once before, but this time...
I had feathered wings and everything!!! It was so cool! If anybody's read the books Maximum Ride, I'm pretty sure I had those on my subconscious, 'cause I was in a "flock" of other kids who had wings too, like the books. But oddly, I never saw any of them fly...
But, anyway, it was really cool! At one point, I was having trouble taking off, but I, like, willed it to happen good as if I were lucid, but I still didnt exactly pick up on the fact that it was a dream.
But still, it was so fun, so I felt like sharing. Lol. The best part was when I looked down and I saw the shadow of my giant wingspan! Haha.
Anybody wanna tell me about their first or most favorite dream of flying???

Haha, sounds like a pretty awesome dream. Flying is probably my main activity when I get an LD. I used to have problems taking off but ever since I started using the three step method it has been a breeze.

Ah yeah, haven't flown for ages, but when I did it was such an amazing experience-- for me it was like I was falling and going up at the same time (the sensation was like that, at least). Very cool, can't wait until I've mastered LDing so I can do it again

Alright!! Saw the title of this topic and had to drop in!

Flying is my most favorite lucid activity. Some of my favorite flying experiences include:
      1) Flying so fast I went into orbit
      2) Flying shirtless, just skimming over the top of a field of high grass
      3) Flying backwards(feet first)
      4) Doing acrobatics
      5) Flying into tornado's
you must be the change you wish to see in the world...

Well, last night I flew I was falling into a circular waterfall and thought that I was just going to land in deep water but I saw sharp rocks- the boost of adrenaline must have done something, because it allowed me to sort of mentally pull up on my "control stick" and aim my trajectory of the fall elsewhere. I flew for a moment and then the lucidity seemed to fade, and I fell into the water and died!!!! :]

The two times I've tried flying I only really have the ability to rocket off into the sky straight up. I then fall to the ground and can't really control any direction.

Love the maximum ride books! Well, not the 4th, and I have no Faith that the fifth one was going to be any good, so i didn't read it. I've had similar dreams, but their always the same kids form the books.
      I'm back!

Just last week I did for the first time!
I was driving in my dream and realized that I was dreaming. This lead to my first attempt and first success! I raised my arms up in front of me and once I saw they went through the windshiled I knew that was all I needed and hence up up and away!
I haven't really planned to try anything specific ever but this seems lika a great attart to any dream, I must & will try it again.

Congrats! Really, because flying is a more difficult dream activity for most.

I love your approach, with the wings , very nice. I've tried reading those books but the authors way of writing turned me away.

My favorite flying dream was indeed my first and one of my more vivid. I fly using the technique from DBZ, where you use your Ki to will yourself to fly. I had been practicing the technique's motions every other day for about a week so that i could work it into my dreams. Finally i had a dream that i was walking through a beautiful green field that stretched as far as you could see, and the sky was emerald blue with a few clouds floating by. I realized that i know of nowhere in my waking life so beautiful and that i must be dreaming. So i wanted to try to fly, after trying to think of a way to do it i remembered the DBZ technique and used it, at first only having limited control, but after a ouple test runs, i got it down pat. I've used that technique ever since. When i was little i used to float around by flapping my arms, not really flying....

When i fly i can usually feel the air currents rushing around me and if i pass threw a cloud i'll feel the moisture bead up on my skin. The higher i go the colder it gets, i love flying.

I've had some major dream-scenes worth remembering while flying:
      • I've been fighting someone before and became fed up with it and just shot up into the air and away from the fight like a bullet from a gun
      • I've been in a dog fight with a jet before, shooting bullets from my fingers
      • I remember i used to dream of simply flying up to the night sky and resting on a cloud and starring at the stars (i'm sure this was a repeated dream series)
      • I remember dreaming of being a super hero version of Goku (no not saiyaman)

      "MementoMori, the lucid machine"

"There's nothing better than knowing what it's like to fly like superman. Being fully aware of the air whipping by you, controlling every movement of every single atom in your body with a single thought. It's real freedom, and there's not a word good enough to describe it, so I'll just call it dreamy for now."

Hahaha. I clicked on the link at the bottom of the little pannel on the right, like when you write a message, and just scrolled 'til I found it. If you type in :rain bow: but take out the space between rain and bow it'll do it too. =]

Wow, that's so cool. Now that they have real people on the covers and the last on I read had Fang on it, I remember one of the people in that dream looking similar to the guy on the cover. I also called him Fang, and I remember thinking in my dream how unoriginal that was of me, hahaha.

Wow, sounds like you've had some pretty awesome experiences! =] I haven't done any research yet on techniques to flying because I still haven't gotten down becoming lucid whenever I want, but maybe some time in the future I'll look that technique up.

What a cool way to explain it. I don't remember too well what it felt like, but hopefully I'll be having more flying dreams so that in the future I'll be able to describe it. =]

I haven't heard of that. Is it simple and/or easy to remember? I'd like to try it some time.

9 posts in a row? That must be a new record.

The three step method works like this:

Start off with a small step, then go for a bigger step and then take a GIANT STEP and leap into the air.

Flying is really an awesome experience, especially for someone like me who in real life has a fear of airplanes and flying. But in the dream world I'm in control of my flying and even if I crash into something, it won't hurt me.

Yay, congratulalations~! Here's to many more.

I used to have flying dreams as a kid, then stopped remembering my dreams for a long time.

I'm so grateful for finding DV and rediscovering flying. I've only had one LD flying dream, but I've always been able to fly naturally in my dreams, albeit Superman-style (hands at sides sometimes). =P

In the flying LD, the detail was just amazing. Blue sky, beautiful horizon, flying over a nice field with animals in it, and trees... <3

Think that was in December. Hope I have another one soon!
