      Lost getting to class

Hi everyone, this is my first post here; I've been wanting to know for a while what this dream I've been having is about.
It is a dream I have ALL the time: I am walking through the hallways of my school, and I cannot for the life of me find my way to class. I wander around the school for long periods of time, usually going around in circles. The tardy bell rings and I become very scared of getting into trouble. IF I do manage to find my class, I arrive to realize that I forgot to do my homework or study for the big test today. After my bad day at school, I go out to the bus ramp to go home, only to find that I can't find my bus either. Now I become very worried as buses start to pull away from the school. Usually I don't catch my bus and end up stuck at school. After that I don't really remember, I either get a car ride home or wake up.

EDIT: if it helps I am currently in high school

EDIT EDIT: Is this in the wrong section?

I just want to say first off, if you want to become lucid that seems like an excellent dreamsign.
Its does seem to me that there isn't much meaning other than you are afraid to be late and afraid to fail in school.

Being lucid means that you become aware that you are dreaming. It can lead to the ability to control your dreams.
Dreamsigns are where you have reoccurring elements in your dreams that are a signal that you are actually dreaming.

I have dreams like that all the time, and it's been a long time since I was in high school. Can't find my locker, can't find my class, didn't do my homework...

They reason we get lost is because dreams are not literal, they are archetypal, an archetype being the sum total of associations to any given topic. You don't travel through linear locations in dreams, you travel down the maze of those archetypal associations, and they are not always linear.

Take for example a math class. Over the course of your life, you've taken math in several different classrooms, in several different schools. So your archetype for "math class" would have a link to every different math class you've ever been in. If you find yourself in a math class in a dream, it usually a composite of every math class you've been in, a mish mash of all you math class experiences. Sure, some of those associations might be predominant, but in all likely hood you'll end up with elements from several math classes all mixed together.

It wouldn't be uncommon to enter one math class in high school, then exit that class to find yourself in your middle or grade school school. You entered the math class through the High School -----> Math Class link, but even though you use the same door you came in through, you can exit along a different archetypal association such as Math Class ----> Grade School.

To further confuse things, you've most likely taken several different subjects in the same class room, which adds a whole other layer of complexity to your personal archetypes, creating yet more paths or associations for you to get lost in. It's these archetypal paths we really travel on in dreams, not what we see.

I hope that wasn't as confusing as a "lost in school" dream.

Ohh that makes sense; that would certainly explain why my dreams shift around from one scenario to another so often. This especially happens when I have dreams when I am say, walking down my street. One minute I am on the street where I live now, the next minute I am going down a street from the neighborhood that I lived in when I was 5 years old. Which btw, is a dream that occurs frequently; Although usually I am being chased by someone, or once again, am lost trying to get home.

I had this dream where I was in class and my teacher wanted to check if I had done my homework. I had forgotten it. And my books. I had them the minute before, but then they were gone. And suddenly my backpack was gone too - that's probably because I always forget things and I'm afraid I'll just forget EVERYTHING one day, so maybe you're just scared you'll end up stuck at school? Have you ever been stuck there? (Because no one wants to be stuck THERE, after all <.< )
      Good luck figuring it out!

I'm glad that made sense to you. Keep in mind the only thing that keeps dreams stable is your focus on any given archetype. As long as you focus on one archetype, it's associations ill continue to manifest until one of those manifestations captures your attention and becomes the dominant focus of your attention. Then that new focus will become the source of all new content in your dreams.

Of course that doesn't do you much good in an non lucid, but if you learn to recognize it happening in regular dreams, it will really help you control you lucids.
