For those that think MILDs don't work..

For a while I've just kind of been debunking MILD's as an ineffective way to become lucid. I've tried doing mantras and that but, never had success. I didn't realize the actual amount of effort they take to pull off. For me, laying in bed saying mantras and visualizing did not cut it. Or maybe I just didn't do it right. Anyways a method that seems to work really well for me is the Hand Technique.

The hand technique takes advantage of the looking at your hand reality check. When you are in bed, just about to fall asleep. Sit up and hold your hands out in front of you, stare at them (make sure there is enough light to see them), and repeat in your head something like "I will see my hands in my dream and realize I am dreaming." Try to visualize yourself looking at your hands in the dream and becoming lucid.

Do this for at least ten minutes, or until you think you've done it long enough. Then lie down and try to sleep while thinking of looking at your hands and becoming lucid.

This works great for me, and the funny thing is I never actually look at my hands, I just spontaneously realize I'm dreaming. If you decide to try this then I'd love to know your results. Good Luck!

      Wow, 10 minutes?

I usually take just a few seconds to say something like "I will have a lucid dream tonight" three or four times. It's never worked. Maybe your right though, maybe I just need to put a lot more effort into it.

Actually i read a thread somewhere where someone just does a nose reality check right before they fall asleep. Which sounds a lot like this. Coincidentally its also what i already do.
Personally, i just think "i will lucid dream" over and over until i fall asleep. So far, ive had lucid dreams every night ive done that. :] going on the 4th night :O albeit theyre short, but thats mostly just me failing to stabilize them properly.
      I agree that MILD's rock

Only those who attempt the absurd will achieve the impossible.
I think it's in my basement... let me go upstairs and check.

MILD is the shiznit. Seriously. It took a while for me to develop my prospective memory but once I did, the lucids flowed in.
      Lucid dreams, gotta love em.
