Seems like most people dont have patience for that..
hopefully someday when it becames important for humanity, or famous, people will see in television and maybe will pay more attention to it.
      hopefully

      Well...Several reasons
1.I think people get discouraged from when they first hear the idea of lucid dreaming...
As soon as it's mentioned they'd feel "Damn, this must be really really hard..."
And obviously, too lazy to put in the effort...
      2.As it's been mentioned before,religious reasons...As far as I know...
Muslims,Christians,Buddhists and Jews don't have anything against it...
Free thinkers and believers such as the Mayans, may believe we might possess evil,or be cursed...
3.Some people think Lucid Dreaming isn't possible...
      4.Some think it's dangerous...My mom,for instance...
She was "sort of" alarmed by the fact that I may jump out of the window,in the middle of the night, thinking I'm dreaming...haha
Well...that all points to the fact that people don't research about Lucid Dreaming to find out the wonders and facts behind it...
Ehh,honestly,I kind of like the fact there aren't THAT MANY lucid dreamers...we're different,haha...

Lucid dreaming can be frustrating. Very. You can put in an unbelievable amount of effort over a few days and not get a lucid from it, then another night you go to bed thinking, "Hey, would be great to have a lucid tonight" and you have one. Also there's quality of lucids. Some of my LDs have been phenomenal. Fantasy cities that would take me days to imagine and draw are created by my sleeping brain in an instant. While in others I vaguely realise I'm dreaming, have a short blurry experience and then wake up with blurry recall. If someone does achieve lucidity then their first few lucids may be like my dull ones. This could make someone conclude that lucid dreaming isn't that great and isn't worth the effort.
My LDing record, if you want to hear about it, is about 4 WILDs, 1 DEILD, and the rest DILDs.

I agree with a lot of people on here, there's people in this world that don't have much patience and only try it for one week. It took me 5-6 weeks to get my first lucid and my dream recall up. But now I'm starting to have a lot of them. At least 1 every 4-6 days, hell I just had two dis morning. I accidentally did a WILD. And did a DILD later. Also it might seem scary for some people. To be honest I was kinda scared at first, but once I had one. I learned that it's not scary at all. Also I love this site.

She was "sort of" alarmed by the fact that I may jump out of the window,in the middle of the night, thinking I'm dreaming
Someone once said that to me, I replied by telling him that a lucid dreamer would know the difference between a dream and reality a lot better than a non-lucid dreamer. Being somewhat logical he agreed

3.Some people think Lucid Dreaming isn't possible...
This is the reason for a lot of my friends.

The main discouragement for lucid dreaming, for my own efforts, is the lack of immediate results and that sometimes at the end of the day I care more about just falling asleep and thinking about the next day than I could care about trying to control my dream. I still enjoy lucid dreaming, but I think most people are too busy with their own lives in the day to care about it, partly because it's an experience that doesn't often change anything in your real life and partly because of the effort the process of learning takes to become skilled at lucid dreaming.

It pisses me off soooooo much when people say that its not possible. I know its possible from personal experience. I want to know what makes them think that we can have no control over our dreams? I guess I could see that coming from a person who doesnt even know what they are going to do in the next second in a dream because they have no thought process. If you can think in a dream then obviously you can catch yourself in a dream if you just direct your mind away from the plot of the dream for half a second.
I accept that my reality is always a dream so if something changes I know I'm right.

I was talking to my moms boyfriend about it today and he said that he goes to sleep to get away from the world and he doesnt want to have to do stuff in his sleep too. I say what better way to get away from the world than to escape to a world of your own creation?

      lack of guidance and frustrations

I've tried LD on and off for about 3 years now, since I started I've had 100% dream control in all my dreams but very little lucidity, sometimes I just don't have time to try 20minutes of WILD because I got to think about going to do other stuff tomorrow.

Its not really religion that stops people, but rather conservatism really that shields itself with the legitimacy of religion. I'm getting really serious this time about my LD since its Ramadan and I gathered motivation and decided this would be an optimal time to try it. I'm already seeing great results.

Well, I don't really share it with my family, so they don't really know all about LDing, I'm sure my mom knows what it is, I just don't talk to her.

I did however, make a huge thread about it in another forum I'm actively part of, and got a few people seriously interested, especially one person. We talk about it alot, he comes to me if he has problems or needs help.

I think the reason LDing isn't so popular is because, people either don't have much interest, or people aren't willing to put forward much effort.

Glad to see Pink Floyd fans in here XD best band of all time, and I have seen that alot of Pink Floyd fans are interested in LDing, such as on this site, but idk if there's a connection XD

Some people don't know about LDing and some people think it's impossible.

maybe he try to LD without telling me hahaha
      your father too maybe LOL

So your dad was crazy while he was young, like a rocker?
in that time he would probably try LD.. youngsters are more likely to experiment all sort of things

He wasn't a rocker at all actually! He's never been drunk in his life! Never done ANY kind of drugs. It's a paradox, lol

IMO because it's not real, and there's no visible results other than personality changes/ideas from dreams... You can't watch a lucid dream that someone had.

Besides, people try after one night and give up.
We all live in a kind of continuous dream. When we wake, it is because something,
some event, some pinprick even, disturbs the edges of what we have taken as reality.
