      Mirrors as portals

I was taking a nap today and found myself aware of the dream, aware of outside sounds. I believe the outside sounds are what gave it away.

I managed to get my dream body to stand up on my bed. There was a mirror at the end of my bed and I started to walk/float towards it. Not knowing where it would take me, I dove into the mirror and went right throught it. I found myself floating at first in complete darkness, and then a few specs of light showed, tiny dots. Then I noticed they were moving past me and I started to feel as though I were flying. I realized they were stars and Earth was in the distance. I was facing the hemisphere away from the sun and had to use my hand to block the sunlight that was peaking over the corner from my eyes.

It was beautiful, like all the pictures and movies I've seen. Then I felt a danger, like I was falling. The Earth's surface was getting closer and I feared I'd hit the ground, but I only wound up in a dream body in bed again, aware that I was dreaming still.

Has anything like this ever happened to anyone? Have you ever used a mirror as a portal? Have you ever seen our solar system?

I used to use mirrors as portals all the time, at least in my first few lucids, before switching to doors. Every mirror I tried to go through would be pretty small, so I'd have to squeeze through it. I just ended up in normal locations though.
We all live in a kind of continuous dream. When we wake, it is because something,
some event, some pinprick even, disturbs the edges of what we have taken as reality.

Using a mirror as a portal is pretty common, as is using a door.. You can also just spin and imagine your new environment, and when you stop spinning you'll be there...

I haven't seen the solar system yet or even the earth.. But I want to do it when I try to complete the: "Go to the Future and see how the world ends" part of the Task of the year... I'm going to sit on the moon and slowly watch the Earth destroy itself...

Try flying the next time your falling.. Then you'll be able to explore..

I basically just thought about using doors the next day. You know, opening one and as you're opening it, expect whatever you want to be on the other side. Like you're walking into a park or something.

Traveling through space is my favourite kind of LD. The weird thing is I usually see foreign planets, and not so much our own. As for mirrors, every time I have looked into a mirror in a dream I became lucid, I mean reaaallly lucid, like extreme clarity. Windows and doors are usually my portals into other dimensions, and I once had a flying dream where I found a wormhole - it was a-mazing.
