Thread: a dream within a dream?

so last night I had a lucid dream within a dream?
it was weird, so I'm not going into details (don't feel like typing it all out)
but first I was having a clip of a dream, then I appeared in a cave with people from the previous dream, while I was in the cave I was scared (this was a nightmare) and I was like "I'm dreaming!" and then I was trying to wake myself up because the dream was scary so I was screaming "WAKE UP"
then I sat up in my bed, and did a reality check, and I was dreaming, then I went back into that first dream!
wtf? a lucid dream, within a dream?

Lucidity can sometimes be hard to maintain. Upon entering other scenarios of your dream, you may lose lucidity completely. It looks like what you experienced is a false awakening. But how you re-entered your previous dream, I have no clue. That's pretty cool though

that's what I was thinking, that it was a false awakening, but I didn't know that's how they were
I thought you mainly got FA's from WILDs... but I just did the nose plug reality check and that's all I can remember before I went back into the dream

I don't think having dreams within dreams is possible. But what is possible however is making your lucid dreams appear that way.

It sucks to think that we have 7-11 dreams a night and only end up recalling a few. What if we had lucids every night but just didn't recall them?

I know it sucks how we have so many dreams yet we remember only few
