Question Got Dream recall down, but Im still having trouble becoming lucid!

      Hey, first post!

Well I'm a senior high school student and Ive decided to cover lucid dreaming for my science fair project. My goal is to reach lucidity in a time-frame of 30 days. So far it's been 1 week since I started dream recall by using a dream log every morning. Im also focusing on using the DILD method with some pre-sleep meditation and self suggestion... but so far nothing. I just seem to dream and not notice it is a dream until I wake up!

The only thing I guess I could improve is to use the reality check technique and to prolong my sleeping schedule from my usual 6-7 hours to some 8 solid hours. But aside from that is there any other thing I could do to improve the chances of being lucid?

do reality checks. i have a blackberry and i set the alarm, say, for 9 in the morning when im at work with a 15 min. snooze on vibrate and every 15 minutes it goes off i hit snooze again and ask "is this a dream?" then read a couple words from anything, look around, and look back at the words. if they havnt changed your not dreaming. do it as often as possible maybe even every 10 minutes cause your pressed for time.

also try setting your alarm for 3 or 4 in the morning to give you more chances of wakin up and possibly, if your lucky, falling into a wild.

watch this as well. its lengthy but the dude explains it well. ten short segments youtube.com/watch?v=IrV4vEDPkB0

The only time DILD worked for me was when I was super motivated and had a super obvious "you are dreaming" sign. If you are still trying to attain lucidity through the DILD technique, I recommend trying it in conjunction with WBTB, since it will drammatically increase the chance of a DILD happening. I have done it myself and it works wonders.

What you are doing is great, but just wake up 5-6 hours into your sleep cycle, and stay awake for a little while and do something lucid dream related. And then just do what you do now before you go to bed and you will most likely have a lucid dream!

Since you are hoping to achieve a DILD, practicing reality checks and Awareness are the most important things. For reality checks, constantly do them throughout the day. Every time you walk through a door, for instance. I am guessing you know the various RCs. Also awareness is another big part of learning to DILD. When you do your reality checks, don't just do them for the sake of doing them. Actually question yourself if you are dreaming. Become aware of your surroundings and ask yourself "Am I in a dream" Of course, you know you aren't, but just that little bit of questioning throughout the day will hopefully carry to your dreams and make you lucid.

And wow, only 30 days to have a lucid. I wish you luck because I know the pressure can really get to you when it starts coming down to the final week or so.
