Naw, but I don't now a lot of religious people most of my friends are atheist so they consider it "weird" but fun. (maybe because I always tell my dreams in a funny way, dunno. we always end up laughing about something stupid that happend) |

Well I have heard some people talking about people thinking that LDs are evil. I dont understand that myself. I have met people who think it is impossible (the smartest guy I have ever met is an idiot in the fireld of dreaming) and some who think it wouldnt be fun (More idiots) but I have never encountered anyone who thought it was evil. I did mention it to my friend once that said it was evil but he had it confused with OBEs and in that only when you cause it without it naturally happening. He thinks consciously doing an OBE is like witchcraft but then when he realized the difference in OBEs and LDs he was one who said they would be boring. |

I'm devoutly Christian and I don't see lucid dreaming as evil. And I have a Catholic friend who is a lucid dreamer. I've never met anyone who's considered lucid dreaming to be evil. Maybe some people confuse lucid dreaming with astral travel (I don't consider that evil either |

I dont think ANY religion thinks Lucid Dreaming in itself is evil. However, I do know of a few which disagree with many of the methods used to achieve LD. Example, some are against meditation, since it makes your mind blank, and thus allows one to be more susceptible to certain things... |
|
i have heard of people who "dislike" Lucid dreaming "because it takes away the meaning of dreams" but i have never heard of anyone who thinks it is evil. |
|
"because it takes away the meaning of dreams"???????? Isnt lucid dreaming the meaning of dreams? |

I'm a Christian and I don't view lucid dreaming as evil in any way. The only reason I'd give for lucid dreaming to be immoral is peoples' intentions- which is no different than waking thoughts. Some thoughts are pure and some are immoral. It's up to the individual person as to how they'll spend their conscious dream time. |

Some crazy people believe that sleep paralysis is the work of the devil, that might have something to do with it |

My mom, a true hard solid catholic, says that "in that state of mind evil spirits could easily control you and control your dreams" and she said that " you don't need those kind of nightmares". But I know its not true so I ld anyway without telling her. Have any of you seen the episode of a thousand ways to die where that girl gets possesed in a dream by a demon in her hotel room and shde dies? |
|
There are probably people out there who think it is. I remember one day I saw something along the lines of "my mom thinks that LDs are occult" |

There's no accounting for intelligence when your talking about religion. |

"I know that I am mortal by nature, and ephemeral; but when I trace at my pleasure the windings to and fro of the heavenly bodies I no longer touch the earth with my feet: I stand in the presence of Zeus himself and take my fill of ambrosia, food of the gods." - Claudius Ptolemy
Well its not LDing but I read something today that said SP was caused by demons. I can understand why some people thought that before science proved that your body normally goes into SP while you are asleep. It said that astral projection is possible when you are in SP because the demons that power the astral projection are already in the room holding you down. |

What makes them think it is anything different from a regular dream? Yeah it feels different but in reality there is no difference at all. |

I don't know anyone that thinks LDing is the way of the devil or whatever the hell you call it. Hey, I just made a pun. Hahahahaha. |

We all live in a kind of continuous dream. When we wake, it is because something,
some event, some pinprick even, disturbs the edges of what we have taken as reality.

Those people don't sound like idiots, but more like they were uneducated or at least not open to the idea of lucid dreams and their possibilities. Keep in mind, they are from a school of thought that just sort of accepted that dreams weren't something we understood nor controlled. Patience will bring them around. |
