Imagining while in a dream - Who wants to do me a favor?

I've always wondered if it's possible to imagine while you're in a dream.

      Whoa. Wait a second. What?

OK. Here's what I mean. Think the word "elephants" in your head.

      Got it?

Now visualize an elephant. Now visualize said elephant turning pink.

      Good.

Now here's my point. Is it possible to visualize in your head in a dream (like you just did above)? I mean, you're already inside your own mind, so is it possible for your mind to dream about visualizing something inside itself? I've never actually had a dream in which I've visualized in my head. I've talked to myself without moving my mouth, but that's not quite the same.

Who's got experience at lucid dreaming that wants to try this for me? Visualize in your head while in a dream and compare it to visualizing in real life?

Thanks! Depending on the results, I might have a plan...

It works the same as in waking, do it a lot when trying to think of ways to play with goals and fights. Never noticed anything different.

Interesting. I wondered if the brain's capability to visualize might be limited by the fact that, in a dream, it's also busy creating and perceiving and entire world and the people in it.

Like, in real life, you're able to perfectly imagine an object or part of your environment that is behind you (or somewhere else not in your line of sight). In a dream, would it still work, would it not work at all, or would the dream change to match what you are imagining?

      Am I making sense?

Yes. I usually do this while teleporting using a door or portals.

Ok. Now that's interesting. Could visualizing what you want to see on the other side of a door be used as a reality check?

It could indeed, and if you are good at it, would kill two birds with one stone! Become lucid because you teleported to a new location, and teleporting all in the same move.

Now how effective would it be? Would your brain adapt to the fact that visualizing doesn't actually change what's behind that door in real life? Like, in a dream, it would do its own thing when you opened the door regardless of your visualization because it's accustomed to real life?

Doubt it would do its own thing, considering that would kill all of the other RC. Just need to expect it to actually change while doing it in waking and you should be set.

Hmm, I can think of an elephant behind me and it's there. I guess your thinking about summoning something in a way. I'll try that after I finish my own goal.
