Exclamation Anniversary Dream - Exactly One Year Later DCs returned

In 2009, during the morning of October 11th I dreamed about nuking two evil DCs that were represented as my parents. They had been trying to convince me lucid dreaming wasn't real, and had got aggressive and were torturing me. They'd not let me leave the house, and if I did they'd teleport and try to harm me. I dropped a nuke bomb in the dreamworld and they disappeared completely, my normal DC parents returning. This dream happened around the time of a hideous false awakening chain.

On the morning of October 11th 2010, I found myself in a horrible false awakening chain. This time, the DC parents had now returned. They were telling me lucid dreaming was fake again, torturing and trying to trap me again, and I couldn't use my lucid powers well. I tried to wake up, but ended having an FA and was back in the nightmare.

Many hours later after waking up, I examined the dreams and discovered the strange dates and the similarities.
This is creepy. Exactly one year later after I killed the DCs, around the same time as the other dream, the DCs return. Its almost as if they have come back to avenge themselves on the anniversary of their defeat.

Anyway I need some advice on why this occurred. Its really odd and I'm shocked by it.

      Link to the anniversary dream.

Wow, that's creepy. Maybe you were expecting it to happen? If they come back again, why not nuke them again?

Indeed the only explanation I have is that is was buried subconsciously or something. But consciously I didn't even know it was possible.

wow, okay... To think about it, I've had dreams that re-occur every few years, but not exactly one year. So, maybe it was just a really freaky coincidental recurring dream?

lol awesome loaf, I wonder, if they can cancel your powers and appear to ressurect, would you be ok with eating them? Thats what I would do, they are trapped in your stomach and can't cancel while dead!

      That's amazing.
Does the date hold any other significance to you? Could this be caused by some outside influence?

My birthday is on the 9th... the date only holds significance of being near (but not precisely) the time I joined DV, I was learning about shared dreaming and other stuff around that time and spent a lot of time chatting with Raven and Nomad. It was definitely a peak of dream journaling and control for me. Thats about all.

The interesting thing is, I didn't actually understand how oddly similar the dream was until many hours later, which was then I discovered the dates. Can a subconscious really hold onto such random information for so long?

Well why not? The brain stores all kinds of information for our entre life.
Also; I don't find it odd at all that it took you a while to realise it was similar to a dream you'd had exactly a year ago. It would have been kind of hard to accept at firs I imagine. That's just too wild.

Id say yes, it's simply a matter of an idea being in your head at one time and having a massive effect on you in a dream, and because of that it'll never truly go away. You have a year to find out, I guess. I don't know what else to say on the subject.

What I don't understand is, why has this not happened before?

I know you're a totally different person from me, but if I had something like this happen to me, I'd be wondering why it didn't happen more often. It sounds like it left some profound effect on you, particularly due to the reappearance. My understanding is that if something is on your mind, it has a high likelihood it'll work its way into a dream. (Smoking cigarettes with a band I really like was a recent dream that reinforces that idea, lol. ) While not everything works that way when I'm dreaming, something like this seems like it would happen more often than what you've suggested has already happened - and by that I mean if it's on your mind this much, I expect it'll return in the next few nights for another visit.

I wish I could give further insights, but I don't see anything else I can make a statement on beyond that I expect it may return again, and it won't take a year for it to come around again. I'll read through your logs and see what else I can come up with.

EDIT: I was about to ask why you didn't take more control of your situations, particularly during the pre-maze part of it (example: when you knew you were in the first nightmare, why didn't you take control of the situation instead of running from it?). Then I read more into the maze portion where you were calling Nomad and Raven for help, but that's where I figured there wasn't much point in the control part, because you seem to have lost your head while in a maze with a tickling poltergeist after you. That does sound like it would be terrifying in a dream, but so long as you were lucid, I can't imagine it being completely impossible to calm yourself down at least a little bit to work up the courage to take control of the situation - conjure a potion between your feet that'll remove that tickling torture, then do a little parkour to get on top of the fences to get a better scope on the entire area. In third-person retrospect it sounds like it was doable, and I'm sure it was, but in first-person retrospect you're probably saying "no way no how". But, that's what I gathered from the log. Crisis induces a lack of control over yourself, leading to a state of panic. How often do you have bad chains of FAs? I never get chains of them....
