      First Lucid Dream and questions

Well, after roughly a week of fairly-focused attempts, it happened. I can only really describe it in two words: complete euphoria . However, I have a couple questions...

      1. My LD came from another dream, and during the non-lucid dream, I experienced what I can only describe as a blackout. Specifically, I was carrying a pitcher of lemonade, blacked out, saw the pitcher again, than suddenly found myself in a totally different environment, and was lucid. Does this mean anything? Should I glean anything from this, or is it too early to establish anything?

      2. Abruptly upon becoming lucid, I began floating (which probably contributed to the whole laughing-gas feeling lol). I tried to consciously remain focused, but i wasn't able to keep the dream together, and within about 15 seconds, it was over. Was I just too excited to keep the dream stable? What is the first thing I should do when I get into a lucid dream?

      Thanks in advance.

I don't know why you blacked out in the dream. Don't wory about it was just a dream, random stuff happens.

When you first become lucid I suggest you stop a second to become fully lucid and clear minded. Its important to stabilized and anchor yourself into the dream. You do that by using you senses. All five if posible. Touch by rubbing your hands together and feeling things in the dream. Carpet works very well. Next look around and look at the details and colors and vividness of everything around you. Listen to whatever noises there are, maby make some noise if there isn't much. Smell and taste arn't quite as important but can help a lot somethimes. If you happen to see any food near by EAT IT!!! It well make you more stable and dream food taste awesome! Lol a fel times when I was really unstable I made myself lick the wall and it kept me from waking up. Smell something like the food or something if you can. Do all this in a short time, you don't want to waste dream time.

Yeah, I wasn't worried about it, I just thought it was a weird way of entering a LD from what I've heard/read.

The frustrating thing was that when I did become lucid, I could almost feel myself lying in bed, with my eyes closed, yet I could see. There were just so many sensations all at once, I think I had a hard time processing it all in time. I did try to remain calm, but it was a little overpowering. Better luck next time I suppose.

My first lucid I started floating in my room.I guess it was because I was in my bed and I was about to fall off my bed, but instead of hitting the ground I started floating with face looking at the ground and my left lifting up towards my ceiling.

Yeah, that's exactly what it was. I just couldn't keep my butt planted in the seat. I was trying to hang onto the table and chairs, kind of like a "Calvin and Hobbes" gravity reversal lol. Once I started laughing, it was all over

Yea right when I started floating I was like holy crap, I did it, and then I woke up. I couldn't stop myself from floating either, it was just autimatically happening.

I wish I can float, still trying to fly. In my last lucid dream, I felt my body, but I can see and hear. It's like day dreaming except 100 times powerful.

Yeah, it was exhilarating to say the least. The only frustrating thing is that I'm not sure how to repeat my success. I'm guessing I need a more-regular sleep pattern, but being a student at uni...that's probably not gonna happen anytime soon. I know they say you're supposed to have plenty of sleep, but my first lucid dream actually came during a nap, trying to recuperate from late night, so who knows lol.

Yeah naps have provided me with a few lucids and a few pretty vivid dreams. Once I became lucid underwater because the breathing set me lucid and like you are saying, I began to float upwards and I flew. The only problem is I kept going up and then lost stability through the white sky lol. I woke up. So sometimes it can be hard to control yourself in the air. Maybe its cuz we have never had to control our tendency to float in real life hah.

I've never floated in real life, of course, but looking back, it was pretty realistic. If I could float in real life, that's probably what it would have felt like hehe

Congrats on the lucid dream! I don't think the way you entered the lucid dream was all that odd, most of my lucid dreams began like that. Don't worry about the short lucid dream just keep positive and they should come more frequently and become better.

      ^Probably

Stabilization and anchoring are something I need to work on... I slip into the void a lot in LDs. =\ Though to be fair, the most prominent void slippage LD happened on my first REM cycle, which from I read becoming lucid during that can be inconsistent and short.

Either way, it's something I need to really work on, as often I'll straight up forget to do it during a dream. However, luckily I'm not getting that excited rush at all when realizing I'm in a dream... But regardless, it's still not uncommon for me to wake up soon after becoming lucid. Blargh.
