Effectiveness of Hypnosis as lucid dreaming method

      Hey everyone,

I just read a few interesting pages in a book called, "The Holographic Universe", it talked about a few people who were hypnotized and then made to do somethings. According to those stories, hypnosis should be a very good method of inducing lucid dreams.

One of the stories was about a man who was hypnotized and told that when he wakes up, at a certain time, he will fall asleep and a pattern drawn on his hand will start to bleed, lo and behold, when the time came, the man fell asleep and the pattern started becoming red in color of the blood that was coming out.

Another story mentioned in there, and trust me, this one is very interesting. The man was put into a trance and the hypnotist told him a few things for entertainment, but when he was ready to come out, the hypnotist told him that when you wake up, your daughter will be completely invisible to you.

When he came out of the trance, his daughter was standing in front of him and he could not see her. The hypnotist stood behind the giggling daughter and held something behind her, and asked the man to identify the object, the man correctly identified it as a watch and even read the inscriptions on it.

Wow, if someone can become invisible to you through hypnosis, then I believe this method is a very strong one if mastered.

Just an experience that i had once that kind of relates to this..

When i was in college in around 2001 i was hanging out with a bunch of guys from my program at the schools pub and we saw an ad on the wall for a hypnosis show the following night, we decided to go. There were 3 guys that i went with. Long story short. one of the guys i was with volunteered and did things on stage that were ENTIRELY out of character for him. The hypnotist did some kind of trick where they wouldn't remember the show till they passed through the doors and he really didnt remember we sat in the seats afterward and watched everyone leaving and he was saying things like "why is everyone leaving we haven't even seen the show yet." so after we waited for like 30 mins... he really wanted to see the show that had already happened lol we left and as soon as we walked through the doors he remembered everything! it was really kinda freaky i wish that i had volunteered!

anyway over a few beers that night we discussed his experience and he said that he remembered hearing the hypnotists voice as he was going deeper he could feel his body go deeper and deeper into the floor then BAM he was teleported to a tropical island and it was Hyper-realistic even more intense than real life. he wasn't aware about lucid dreaming at that point and only really remembered a handful of dreams his entire life but for about a month after that his recall exploded and he was averaging nearly once lucid dream per night without trying or past lucid experiences.

I'd would be curious to see if more people had the same kind of boost to dream awareness after being hypnotized like this.

More on topic. Thanks for the post and the book recommendation i will def give it a read.

Wow, I am simply amazed at the power of hypnosis. It can be used to such advantages, you can for example put yourself in hypnosis and tell yourself that you will directly enter a dream when trying to sleep.

Or you can even tell yourself what kind of dreams you will have, how long the length and lucidity/stability of it as well.
