A little concerned about the holidays

      Hey everyone!
I just got out of school for Christmas break, and as we all know when you're out of school you want to stay up late, ESPECIALLY when your family's in town. My question is will me staying up and catching up with my relatives hurt my dream recall and chances of a lucid? So far since I've started I've been able to remember about 2 and a half dreams a night, the half part being a fragment of one. I already had a rough time trying to recall last nights dreams for some reason, and now I'm worried that a change in sleeping hours will hurt my recall. Is this a legitimate concern?

A break can be good sometimes. It's not like you don't sleep at all, so no. Don't let lucid dreaming come in between you and your social life too much. Especially now, enjoy spending time with your family

And besides, changing your your sleeping hours can be used in an effective way. REM-rebound and stuff like that. You'll be back on track in no time.

Cool cool. This brings me to another question. The dream journal part of it all, is that something I have to do for as long as I want to lucid dream, or is it just a beginning tool?

Just take some extra time to sleep in Sometimes, mixing up your sleep schedule can score you some really crazy dreams. If you miss out on a REM cycle or two, you could get a rebound effect, where you have doubly long dreams the following night. Don't worry about it. Just make sure your attention stays on dreaming.
