How are you meant to slow down, think and realize you are dreaming?

Ever since trying to have a lucid dream i have had 3-4 dreams in a row. But in every dream so many things happen so quickly and its blurry that i find it impossible how someone can have a lucid dream?

Like last night i had this dream i was in a war and everything was happening so fast how am i meant to stop and look at my hands or spin around?

      does this skill eventually come?

Practice reality checks, that is a good way to start, with DILD's. When you've had a few LD's your awareness will be better and you will eventually just realize you are dreaming all of a sudden, without any need of reality checking. That's how it has been for me atleast

      Dream Induced Lucid Dream.
If you haven't started a dream journal yet, do it. After writing down a bunch of dreams, you look for a recurring theme (dreamsign) in your dreams and then do a reality check in real life whenever you see or hear one of the 'dreamsigns'. Then when in a dream and you notice a dreamsign, you will hopefully do a reality check and become lucid.

Better yet, just read Puffin's tutorial

A sure fire way for me to have a lucid dream is if I wake from a regular dream to go to the washroom or because my alarm clock went off, if at that point where I remember the dream I was just having and I'm half asleep, I go back to sleep with the intention of continuing the same dream. I can pick up where I left off only I know it's a dream and my consciousness is there. If you can't go right back to sleep just day dream about your dream with your eyes shut. Imagine what you want to do in your dream. A lot of times that day dreaming will turn into the dream but you will still be in control. That's one of the ways I do it at least...

the more you lucid dream the more calm and relax you will become when you realize your dreaming, when i first realize im dreaming, sometimes things get blurry like im about to wake up. One thing i do stay in the dream is to squint my eyes to a narrow focus and try to stare at something in the dream, this helps make things more vivid and clear. then ill hold onto something as tight as i can and by then im usually back in control, but spins seem to work also youll get the hang of it eventually. figure out what works best for you. i lost alot of my skills but im getting back into it.
