A creepy voice laughing at me while during my WILD attempt. I need some tips to help.

So last night i was trying to WILD. And I fell asleep like i normally would, but i read that you should set an alarm about 4 hours after you usually fall asleep. ( 430 for me) I woke up due to may alarm as planned then i went to take a piss, came back laid in my bed relaxed completely, repeating in my head i"m going to to lucid dream" "im going to lucid dream" until i reach the different levels of sleep. I usually watch the "Light show" as i call them but the random bursts of light that you see with your eyes closed. This is usually as far as i get, well last nite i passed this stage and then i felt like i was in hyper speed i though i heard some one cough then this turned into a really really creepy laughing! i was scared but was warned this would happen so i stuck with it, while the laughing was going on, i was seen a blend of red and white lights that looked like the were swirling it lasted for about 45secs then everything went black, and i didnt know what was going on it felt like i was still laying there as normal but i couldnt open my eyes and thats all i remember, IM just confused on what all exactly happend in terms of WILDing it was actually pretty scary but im pumped to try it again tonite! any tips or help or explanation of what happened would be awesome thanks!!!

Hey man! Looks like you were experiencing something called sleep paralysis. Its your body going into a mode of paralysis so you don't act out your dreams. At least thats how I have come to understand it.

Anywhoo once I enter SP (Sleep paralysis) I often hear weird noises; laughter and screaming, and usually feel pressure on different parts of my neck and chest. All you need to do is remember that its all part of the plan. SP is a gateway to having many vivid and memorable lucid dreams. So you just have to stay observant of you mind, awareness, and consciousness all throughout your experience.

If you can keep your mind aware of whats happening around you when your experiencing SP, you can also shoot into a lucid dream. Just tell youself when your seeing hypnagogic imagery and hearing noises that your body is falling asleep and your mind is staying awake. And from my understanding, you brain is shooting loads of information all over to check and see if your awake or not. After that passes, you will usually find yourself in a dream scene. From there you reality check, and start your lucid adventure!

Let me know how everything goes, I have had alot SP experiences and they can be very useful =D
      Are you self-aware?

Awesome, thanks for the info! It really was pretty scary when it happened but looking back on it waking up I cant help but laugh. And it sucks realizing that i was SO CLOSE to LDing finally! lol ive been trying for like 3 months (but just recently started trying to WILD). But after the Hypnagogic imagery what usually happens for you? like i said it just went black and i didnt know what to do from there. because I though I had just lost focus and was just "laying there" as if i had just laid down to sleep.

      Thanks again.

I haven't had a successful WILD but I have read that when you think you have failed, do a few RC's because many times you will begin a WILD with a false awakening

This is the reason I don't WILD because of stories like this. Once I woke up in the middle of the night for no reason and there was a white orb at the end of my bed. I wasn't paralyzed at all and it start floated towards me and formed an ugly face. I freaked out and screamed..woke up my mom and when I looked back it was gone of course. Was surprised I wasn't in SP mode. This did me in for WILDS for sure.

That brings up another question I had thanks for reminding me. after that happened to me (everything went black after the creepy laughter and hyper speed lights). I was going to check my phone or ipod for time to try to change it or see if it changes (because this is the reality test i do most often) both which i use as alarms to wake me up. But i read to not do this because if its the only light in the room it can cause you to wake up? know anything about that?

pepsibluefan--oh and as my friends think that its wierd that im really into LDing but I had a friend with an experience similar to you while he was in SP he had a me looking chinese figure just floating above him and he couldnt move obviously lol and he is still scared from that one experience.
