The old hag, (or something else)?

On 2/23 I was trying to wild, I haven't succeed that often lately. But I sure did that night! Let me just say old hag is nothing like the led blanket feeling of normal Sleep paralysis at all! Things started out like normal, the vibrations the woshing sound the general sound of electrical eternal oblivion, all mere child's play, compared with what happened next. I was already completely frozen and it was obvious I was not yet in a dream or having a false-awakening. I felt an strong presence, nothing out of the ordinary till it started making truly horrifying roars and grunts, stuff I couldn't properly explane to you if I had 200 pages of text to work with. The aura I felt was so strong, but still I was in my cool. I was thinking how cool it was this was all a figment of my subconscious until it got on top of me, and brothers let me tell you it did not feel like an illusion! And it sure didn't feel like comfy led not this thing. It penetrated my skin, or felt like it did, and took me through what can be described as a wormhole, and suddenly this once malevolent experience became an unbelievably peaceful trip it was clearly a dream at this point but the thing is when I opened my eyes I was not in my room like I would with a wild or false-awaking, this once thrashing dragon like thing was singing a beautiful song I never heard about a city on clouds or above sand in the sky and water and love, I cant remember anything more. And I woke up way too soon for this epic Journey.

This is what most people talk about when they talk about SP. A condition where they wake up in the night and cant move while a nightmare basically comes to life. It's most often a scary experience, usually demons, or old hag or whatever. I really surprised you didn't freak out when she jumped up on you I woulda freaked out and went mike tyson on her butt, or cried... most likely cried

Definitely sounds like old hag. I haven't experienced it to that extent, I've only ever felt the feelings of dread etc. I'll be honest though, I'm quite intrigued!

      @LakeyPoo

No, Ive had That all my life, this was 1000* different. I'm sorry, I'm not trying to defy your reasoning but it's not what happened, I have had sp at least 50 times and this is not that, at all.

After learning about the old hag, about a week later I got this SP where in the corner of my eye I saw an old decaying lady sitting next to me as I slipped into the dream. I wasn't scared, too tired and ignorant to bother. But still, waeawasfsadf4234234sfds.

I wish I hadn't read this. Last night I tried to WILD and I kept freaking myself out thinking some old lady was gonna jump on me like a scene in Drag Me To Hell or something lol

I try to WILD often and haven't come across her yet, but when she does I have a few tricks and such that I want to try to get rid of her. For example when the presence starts pretend there is a light barrier around your bed and no one can pass it but you. I was thinking of something along those lines. I heard its different for everyone but the thing is not to fear it. If it happened to me I would say to my mind if you don't stop this there will be consequences. I don't know maybe I am all wrong.

That's a good idea, I often visualise that my breathing out encases me. I might have to try and convince myself that it's protective too!

In my longest, strangest dreams there is usually a hag/old woman somewhere in it. Usually she isn't directly hurting me, but kind of observing, like she's waiting for a chance to get at me. Or she's working with the enemy of my dream. In these dreams I usually just dismiss her but when I wake up I'm like "Old hag AAAAHHHH!!!"

I wish I'd never read about the old hag either, because it's one of the few things that makes me really afraid to think about. Usually when I think of SP I think of light flashes and music, because that's what I get. But I've heard stories of a "presense" and it creeps me out...

The hag in snow white was the only evil character that scared me as a child I just don't like them...

Ahhh .... the old hag. Ive encountered her tons of times since i was a child. Honestly, if you feel the presence or see her, you can stop it since its only a hallucination and if you are calm about it, you can transform the situation into something more pleasant. Sure, the fear will be there but not as much, atleast thats how it is now in my case. So don't let that experience stop you from attempting WILD.

      Good luck my friend!

THE OLD HAG CAME INTO MY ROOM AND ATE MY SOUL

If your perception of the old hag is a scary one, you are going to manifest a scary old hag (lul). WakingNomad's words of wisdom were you should appreciate every dreaming element for what it is. Be curious about the phenomena that is the old hag, feel intrigued to experience a hallucination of this level. Don't be scared of it. Chances are when it happens you won't be as scared as you think.

If you think its scary it will be. The same way if you are scared of mirrors in dreams, you are in for a bad nights sleep when you find one.

I have shared a story many of times in many topics, about a guy who posted here his dream where a decaying corpse in a mirror came out and pulled him in. Sweet dreams.

<<If your perception of the old hag is a scary one, you are going to manifest a scary old hag (lul)>>

Actually in this event the thing had glowing eyes, and looked more like a dragon. I like dragons, and never remember thinking gee I hope a dragon isn't stalking me during my wild. I have terrible control of emotions, and plot structure in dreams, also when flying my vision is far from clear. I was actually very scared when it jumped on me and could not control it ( the thing or whatever it was calmed me down in a way that felt like it actually wanted me calm very weird), it felt different from a normal lucid in that I was flown by whatever it was over a very detailed environment while it was singing, I have never had charters in my dreams to start the dream. And have never seen that much clarity while flying, It was flying me over San Francisco, and the golden gate bridge, this thing seemed fascinated with that city. Whatever it was I'm grateful I didn't chicken out and let the journey happen. Also next time I want a cat loaf pouncing on my stomach ;P

I'd say your best bet would be to hug it.

I've only had severe SP once (though I do occasionally get the sensation of something sitting on my legs), and if the old hag ends up being like this SP every time, I look forward to it. I woke up and couldn't move, but I knew about SP so I wasn't scared. I did have the feeling of something sitting on me, then I see this black lab jump off me and run across the room. The walls then lit up with psychedelic colors and I look up to see my very hot co-worker standing over me topless. I ask her why she's there and she responds "Because I love you!" And then I fell back asleep into a dream of the predictably horny variety.

I just learned about the Old Hag but it doesn't really scare me. When I think of the Old Hag, I think of harry potter and that one teacher that is part of the ravenclaw house or something. (Can't remember the name.)

If it did happen to me, I would just think of something pleasant like a puppy, cat or something like that because after all it's just an hallucination.

I have never had any HI but I have heard HS like a dog bark but nothing scary.

What exactly is an 'old hag' and is it common? I'm a little frightened now.

Hey guys i experienced the 'old hag' for the first time last night. I had a dream before and it faded as if a shadow was appearing in front of me i could kind of feel myself slowly open my eyes and i saw and old woman/witch sit in front of me and i was just beyond frightened i tried to move my body but i couldnt i tried so hard to get her off me then suddenly i reached out and punched it then woke up and at this moment i was like what the hell just happened i had never been so confused because i had never had this sort of experience in my life i was scared shitless i just curled up in the corner of my bed for at least 30mins trying to figure out what happened wether it was real or not because it felt so real.

And im quite a religious person so for me i thought at first it was a sort of demon that was trying to attack me so after 30mins of being absolutely terrified and sweating like hell in my bed i overcame my fear a little and tried to calm myself down, woke up went to the toilet and splashed some cold water on my face trying to see wether i was still dreaming.

Today i had asked my friend if he knew anything about this because hes a very religious muslim and i hoped he'd have some sort of insight into what was going on so i explained to him what happened "i dreamt of a demon woman sitting on top of me" then he started to explain to me about something called lucid dreaming and it started to intrigue me a little and he explained how people had many encounters with something called the "old hag" and i was just shocked at how he described her so similar to what i dreamt/felt i was still not sure at this point if what i saw last night was a dream or reality because it felt so real, so i came home today and started doing some research on what happened and i was just so shocked at how other people had dreams about this and researched on lucid dreaming and sleep paralysis i was so relieved you couldn't believe it, knowing it was only a dream.

So, I tried a wild last night for the first time since, that happened. And entered sleep paralysis with ease. And I made a big mistake. I had a long thought of boy I hope that crazy stuff doesn't happen again. And poof my door explodes open, something got on me again. And I heard my mother say rather crazily if you don't get up dads swinging the ax, followed by what sounded like a body being drug up the stairs. Needless to say I did not Have a lucid dream last night ;P Good god, it's like my minds purposely screwing me out of my lucid fun. Dam bastard.

I've had a similar experience a while back but I believe I was being "attacked" by something. I awoke and it was clear that I was awake when this occurred and it was insanely terrifying to say the least. This black force (shadow) swarmed over my body and was holding me down and my ears immediately started freaking out (I heard loud noise/static like sounds) and I began praying! A few seconds later the black thing (spirit) or whatever it was vanished. This happened two or three times and each time it occurred after I woke up and was laying on either my side or my back. I always fear that it could indeed happen again, but I've learned to protect myself so that it doesn't have a good chance. -Chase
