Lucid Dreaming and the Deathly Hallows

So, there I was. Strolling along a hillside through tall grass and watching trees gently blowing in the wind. In the valley below I saw a large lake so, with a tremendous hop, I flew down to it. I was lucid again. A young cherub-faced girl in a flowing white dress and braided hair was standing by the lake. She slowly turned to me and said , 'You are dead'. I felt the familiar tug of real world awareness wash over me as the little girl faded and I awoke feeling a bit panicked. This dream occurred years ago and would start a series of lucid dream experiences where I found myself thinking 'Am I dead?' at which time the anxiety would pull me right out of the LD. However, after a few of these dreams the overriding feeling was if I am dead... so what? The lucid dream world is so fascinating and peaceful that, if it is death, who wouldn't want to stick around? I have learned to take that primal fear and turn it around. Now, if the thought occurs I find myself thinking' Okay, I'm dead... and loving every minute of it!' Just maybe that little girl dream character was try to help me extend the experience.

I wonder how many in this forum have experienced the thought 'Am I dead?' in a lucid dream and how they have handled it.

I thought this post was going to have something to do with Harry Potter.

If I had a dream character telling me I was dead in a lucid dream, it would probably make me wonder. I can't remember if it's ever happened to me. But I'm pretty sure that I've never thought I was dead inside a LD.

This happened to me a couple of years ago. I had a string of lucid dreams where I thought I was dead. I would become lucid in the dream, only "lucid" meant "dead" for whatever reason. I felt totally aware, had memories from my waking life, ect. I just couldn't separate the two concepts of dream world vs afterlife. It was weird. It happened in quite a few dreams, and lasted for a few months.

I think it is only natural to question a reality that you know is not the 'real' world. I would guess that most accomplished lucid dreamers, at one point or another, have found themselves thinking 'am I dead?' . Further, I would say that lucid dreaming has substantially reduced my own fear of death.

Interesting stuff: I wrote this post yesterday and last night I died in a dream (not lucid). Ahh, the power of suggestion!

I've had the opposite thing happen to me.

I feel really relaxed about the concept of death now that I can lucid dream. It's made me realise how subjective the human experience really is (with LD's being so vivid) and I feel that death is just another step to conquer.

Who knows? Hopefully death is just one huge lucid dream.

If that is true then we might think about becoming 'alive' in a spiritual world like we think about being dead in our physical world. Who would ever want to leave an LD world??
