You know when you're trying not to think of something but you can't get it out of your head?

I've found that my experiences with lucid dreaming are like this. Let me explain: whenever I'm inside a dream, and I decide to RC, I become lucid. I then proceed to get overly excited (which can make the dream unstable.) I start touching things, trying to anchor myself in the dream. But, I cannot stop my mind from thinking: "Wow! This is a dream! Don't wake up! Don't wake up!" And this ultimately leads to me waking up within a few seconds of becoming lucid.

So, back to the title: "You know when you're trying not to think of something but you can't get it out of your head?" - Well, that "thing" that I am trying not to think of is waking up, which inevitably happens whenever I try to get that out of my head.

It's just like that Inception quote about the White Elephant.

This might be sort of vague, but any help/comments would be appreciated here.
      That's what she said.

What you describe here happens to me sometimes. It is very important to know that dream are likely to follow our expectation, desire, fear... the key is to use that knowledge wisely.

Keep in mind that you will have plenty of other lucid dreams you don't have to be to exited. just stay calm and try to wake your mind up.

In my experience I can recall some dreams where i allow my self to think about waking up because i know I won't actually wake up its a state of mind. (expectation)

You shouldn't be afraid that you're going to wake up in the next LDing... (fear)

always plan something fun to do in the dream before bed... during the dream let your desire come true (desire)

the best answer are always the one that come from the inside. you'll find a way to control this by your self. I can only show you the way

I know you might be thinking that this little problem is the only thing that keeps you away from a good lucid dream but its not.. the real problem is that you think it's a problem. get it ? As soon as you make this fear of waking up during a Lucid dream go away it won't happen again... well not before the dream naturally end by it self.

yes but I see to have that problem while awake. It takes a lot of self discipline to be able to control the mind.
