Thread: TILD totem induced lucid dream.

Those who have seen the movie inception probably know what a dreamtotem is. My idea of a dreamtotem is slightly different. Just pick a random item, which you can keep close to you, like a marble or a necklace. keep it with you at all times, and everytime you think about it, do a reality check.

For example, you want to check the time so you take you're mobile phone out of you're pocket, where you also keep you're dream totem. You will probably touch you're dreamtotem, making you think about it. So you do a reality check.

I think this method would really help you at getting lucid dreams because you will more often and more randomly do reality checks which might help you do reality checks in you're dreams.

It's a good idea to get you to RC more often, but I wouldn't call it a TILD. RCs don't induce you into the LD, they confirm it.

I have to disagree I've became lucid 3 times due to random RC i did a nose pinch and still breath and i said wait im dreaming it was random it made me go lucid i can name atleast 5 other reasons why more RC = more chance to LD but yeah... I also do a lot of RC during the day.

yeah, i often do a rc when im not lucid. I made it a habit to rc when i flip a lightswitch. So now in a dream if the light works different i turn lucid. As well as when i drown in a dream i can still breath, which is basicly also a rc, and then i realize im dreaming.

Well, in a sense that's still a DILD if you become lucid through an RC (?) I don't know, what matters is that it helps you attain lucidity. RC-ing throughout the day will also keep LDs in your head which will also help with DILDs.

Rather than being "TILD" this is just a variation on reality checking. A more appropriate title would be "Method for remembering to RC" than any new variety of lucid dream induction. This is closely related to writing "reality check" on your hand or something.

Technicalities aside, I can see how this would be useful. I think what would make this work is that you take an item you wouldn't normally carry around in your pocket and tell yourself "I will reality check when I realize I have this item in my pocket."

Pros:
You're probably much less likely to forget your reality checking.
You'll probably start remembering to RC when you reach into your pocket before feeling/touching your "totem."

Cons:
If you don't usually check your pockets while dreaming you probably won't start after doing this.
