Becoming Lucid but deciding your dream is reality

So became Lucid for like only the 4th time the other day.
I’d been dreaming i was climbing up a giant chest of draws, the thing had toppled over, and i’d landed on the back of it. When i realised I was in a dream.
Because I knew the second I became Lucid, I’d soon wake up; I quickly decided to get a bit of Flying Time in. But as I jumped off to into the air, all it did was result in me belly flopping back onto the hard surface. I could swear that I even felt my chin slam against the ground. It was then that I asked myself if I was actually dreaming at all. I stood back and decided I’d got it horribly wrong and was actually awake the whole time.

      Then I woke up.

This was a strange Lucid Dream on a few points.
      A) I couldn’t fly, which I’m sure happens to a lot of Lucid Dreams from time-to-time
      B) I’m sure I felt pain, or discomfort or at least the feeling of hitting the ground
      C) After being Lucid and realising this was a dream, I’d come to the conclusion that maybe it wasn’t at all.

Has this happened to many Dreamers out there?

You’ll have to excuse me if this is quite a regular thing for most, still a novice at becoming Lucid here.

Yes, I have too became lucid, and then was nearly convinced I was actually awake. The key is to have a firm reality check that confirms you are dreaming. Everyone has their own, but my method is looking at a clock twice to see if the time has drastically changed. This ensures that I am in a dream.

By the way, I can't imagine how dumb you must have felt in your dream! Hahaha.

I have had false awakenings before, but nothing close to this extreme. This is very interesting.

Your dream characters have never tried to convince you your asleep, most of mine won't talk about how I am dreaming, or they just tell me I'm not. I think this is because this is what I think would happen in real life, or because my mind doesn't want me aware in my dreams.

Yeah, felt quite stupid. To make matters worse I was being chased at the time by a group of people. It was kind of one of those moments where I'd looked behind, seen they were still after me and thought to myself "Yeah, see you later suckers!" only to land on the ground with a thud. All quite embarrassing really. Haha.

And 'HighDreamer' you will Lucid evetually. It took me a month or so, and they've only lasted a few seconds for me.

This isn't as bad as the dream i had last night. I dreamt I was dehydrated. I drank from waterbottles and from fausets. I even drank from the little water despenser on the fridge. No matter what i did i couldn't feel like i drank anything. It was pure terror. I took a shower and felt weird that i could feel and taste the water.

Dreams can be very convincing. And Dream characters are NEVER good reality checks. They really want to believe that they are real, as much as you reason with them that they aren't.
The Key is to combine your waking rational abilities with the infinite possibilities of your dreams, because if you can do that, you can do anything.
